OCA-UPS Gold Mountain Scholarships Deadline Extended
Good News: The OCA-UPS Gold Mountain Scholarships application deadline has been extended to March 22, 2026, 11:59 PM PT. (2:59 PM ET).

About the Scholarships:
Since 1999, the OCA-UPS Gold Mountain Scholarship has supported first-generation students in their pursuit of higher education. The title of the scholarship, "Gold Mountain," calls back to a time when many immigrants looked upon America as a mountain of golden opportunities for themselves and their families.

$2000 scholarships will be awarded to 12 high school students who will be graduating from high school in 2026 and starting college in the fall.

$ 2,500 scholarships will be awarded to 4 undergraduate students starting their final year of college/university, or community college, in the fall of 2026.

ACTION ALERT:
NO Funding for ICE and Homeland Security Until Accountability & Transparency!

OCA urges Congress to reject calls for increased ICE funding and to take immediate action to investigate deaths in custody, strengthen independent oversight mechanisms, and ensure detainees have access to adequate medical care and legal protections. OCA further demands the immediate removal of the federal officers who killed Renee Nicole Good and calls for a fair, impartial, and unbiased investigation.

“Any one of us can be a target, whether you’re a U.S. citizen, whether you’re naturalized citizen, regardless if you’re a criminal or not, you could get picked up, no questions asked until later,” Wong said. “And that’s kind of scary because ICE is supposed to protect you.”

Wong and the nationwide OCA group have called on Congress to increase oversight of ICE, which recently became America’s highest-funded law enforcement agency, according to NPR.

“Unlike police, ICE officers are masked, and there seems to be less accountability,” Wong said. “Congress cannot continue funding ICE without holding them to transparency and accountability.”
