National Day of Prayer!

Message someone today that you’re praying for them. Call someone and pray for them. Pray for a stranger.

Pray for our cities, our churches, our communities. Pray for our nation! Pray for the world.

Pray for those you disagree with, those you don’t understand , those you don’t like.

Pray for those who are hurting, those that need healing. Pray.

I’m going to try to share more often. What has meant the most this season is knowing lives are being impacted through this little local organization - whether anyone sees it or not.

We don’t share to highlight what we are doing. We share to inspire others to . Sometimes sharing sparks an idea, an opportunity, or even a divine interruption.

Today is National Random Acts of Kindness Day, and tomorrow begins Lent.

Lent is a time of reflection, repentance, and redemption, but also a time to reset. To lean into living Lent. Lent - lent by our Creator - to impact this world for eternity.

I’m sharing a few ways to , but truly, it’s a posture of the heart.

"Because Lent isn’t only a season of subtraction; Lent too is a season of multiplication: more love, more grace, more kindness, more courage, more Christ." ~Ann Voskamp

Amen.

Your grace in this reorienting season is so appreciated. Unsure how present I’ll be here still for awhile but this just had to be shared.

If you’re in Columbus and are unsure of how to care for this community, please reach out. I have some incredible friends leading remarkable organizations.

There is something I want to say with a tender heart.
Something I say as someone who loves the Church
and believes deeply in what God can do through His people.

And I say it softly
because I know my words can come out strong.
I have been known to call out truth
and people sometimes take it as an attack.
But this isn’t an attack.
This is love.
This is invitation.

James 1:27 has been resting heavy on me.
Not as a verse to decorate a wall.
Not as a mission statement for a ministry.
But as a reminder of what God actually said.
He called caring for the vulnerable pure religion.
He did not call it a suggestion.
He did not call it a hobby.
He did not even call it a personal calling.
He called it a command.

I say that gently
because I never want anyone to feel guilted into something God didn’t ask of them.
Not everyone is meant to adopt.
Not everyone is meant to foster.
But every believer is meant to care.
Care in real ways.
Costly ways.
Jesus shaped ways.

Sometimes that looks like opening your home.
Sometimes it looks like standing beside the families who do.
Sometimes it looks like easing a burden
or praying over a child you may never meet
or showing up for the hurting with presence instead of opinions.

When I look at the life of Jesus,
He always moved toward pain.
Toward the lonely.
Toward the ones who had nowhere else to go.
And if we are following Him
really following Him
our lives will start to point in that same direction.

This is not me calling out the Church.
This is me calling the Church up.
Up into compassion.
Up into courage.
Up into the kind of love that feels like Jesus
and looks like obedience
and sounds like revival in the quiet places.

If we pray for God to move
we have to be willing to move with Him.

We are ALL about partnerships at Mission 516! Our heart is to connect people with the work of incredible organizations making a difference in the lives of others. So, when the Hilton Garden Inn-Columbus Univ nominated our organization for a grant through the Hilton Global Foundation via Hilton, we knew we wanted to partner them with Way to Battle.

This hotel group, owned by Indus Hotels, has served with M516 several times for our cooking events. It just seemed right that the grant they secured for us would make a difference beyond our organization. We planned this volunteer event with Way to Battle for some of their staff and donated $500 of the grant to them.

Check out waytobattle.com. Every $10 means a Battle Pup for a warrior! Over 70,000 have gone across our country, across the globe!

Thank you Hilton for the grant! Thank you Indus for the nomination and for being a company willing to pay their employees to serve. And thank you Way to Battle for the opportunity and all you do so that no one battles alone!

We are taking a summer break!

We are focusing this summer on our freezer meal ministry to foster, adoptive and kinship families. During this season, we are pausing our planned impact events but we will hop on here occasionally to share some summer ideas of how to live on mission.

Blessings!

So grateful to serve with these people on this Good Friday. It indeed was a good day to change the world. 🌍♥️

We prepared bags to egg our neighbors, shelf stable lunches for Reynoldsburg Hope Center and diaper kits for Alicia's Closet. 🥰

We had a little lesson on the true meaning of Easter and that Jesus’ last commandment before the cross was to “love one another as I have loved you”. He modeled this by serving. ☺️

Thank you Multiply Church for allowing us to use your building! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

You know by now we love the National Holidays calendar - it can be used as a tool for reaching others, growing or reconciling a relationship, or to live intentionally.

This Sunday is "National Take a Walk in the Park Day"! SO many ways to use this "holiday" for a purpose:

👭 Invite a friend, neighbor, co-worker or family member to meet you for a walk. Share your story or something about your journey with Jesus.
🗑 Wear a and pick up trash in the park.
🙏🏼 Take a prayer walk through a park - pray for your city, community, neighbors, government.
🥰 Take a walk as a family. Then, play, watch, encourage your kids. No devices, only engagement.
🎁 Take someone else's kids to the park - a much welcomed break for a single, foster, adoptive or kinship parented family.

Do you have any other ideas?? If the "National Day" doesn't work out, plan one of these ideas for another day. We won't tell. 🤐😉

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds." – Hebrews 10:24

Has it been on your heart to encourage a friend, loved one, or even someone you interact with on social media?🙏 Here are three ideas to inspire you:

💕 Send a heartfelt message: Reach out to a friend or loved one with a text or DM expressing your appreciation and support.

🥰 Share a positive post: Tag someone in an uplifting quote or scripture that reminds them of their worth and potential.

👋 Offer a helping hand: Ask if there's anything you can do to support them, whether it's running an errand or simply listening.

Let's build each other up and spread love through our actions! Have an idea of your own? Share in the comments!💖

CELEBRATING International Women's Day! May we be women who live these scriptures.

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

"...Outdo one another in showing honor". - Romans 12:10

Go ahead, and text a woman in your life to let her know she is a daughter of the King in whom He delights.
