Message from Dr. Iyaad Hasan, CEO, The Breathing Association
You may have seen recent news about our 119-year-old agency. I want to share an update directly with you.
First, thank you to everyone who has stood by us during this difficult time. Nonprofits across the country are under strain, and The Breathing Association is no exception. Funding delays and ongoing uncertainty have pushed our clinical and social service programs to the edge.
Yet, as we shared our challenges with stakeholders and the public, the community responded with overwhelming support. Many partners stepped up to help us find a path forward.
I am proud to share good news: after working closely with the state, we have been approved to fully restart our HEAP and Winter Crisis Program on October 29, after a brief pause beginning October 27.
On behalf of our team, I extend special thanks to IMPACT Community Action for its partnership and to the Ohio Department of Development for working with us to make this possible. Together, we will continue helping more than 30,000 families prepare for the cold months ahead.
We also thank The Columbus Dispatch Columbus Dispatch and 10TV - WBNSNews for covering our story. Their reporting helped rally the community and breathe new life into our mission.
Our other programs still need your help. We’ve reduced clinic hours and condensed staff to stay operational. Grant delays and limited donations have slowed care delivery. Your donation directly supports our Breath of Hope Clinic, which provides essential respiratory and primary care to those who need it most.
Since 1906, The Breathing Association has stood for community, compassion, and care. With your continued support, we will keep this mission alive; helping every person take the best breath possible.
Thank you for believing in us.
Dr. Iyaad Hasan
Chief Executive Officer
