"Preparing youth for life and leadership through sports."

The LiFEsports Initiative is intended to poise OSU as a national leader in the area of positive youth development research, teaching & learning, and service & outreach. Specifically, the aims of the Initiative are to:

1) Increase the number and quality of sport and recreational programs that are designed to promote positive youth development among at-risk youth;
2) Increase the number of highly-

skilled youth development professionals in the field; and
3) Build knowledge and best practices in the areas of youth development, social work, and physical activity as well as inform youth development policy. To achieve these aims, the LiFEsports Initiatives will develop and operate the following strategies:

• LiFEsports Summer Camp
• LiFEsports Youth Leadership Camp
• Service partnerships with youth organizations in Central Ohio
• Youth Development Minor at the undergraduate level
• Internships/field experiences at the undergraduate and graduate level
• Professional development seminars for youth development agencies and organizations
• Funded youth development research projects
• Applied research opportunities for faculty, staff, and students

2026 LiFEsports Summer Camps are in full swing as Week 2 wraps up! 🙌

This week, campers leveled up their skills in volleyball, basketball, football, and soccer, and even put their speed and determination to the test at the CRPD Track & Field Meet 🏐🏀🏈⚽🏃

They also spent time learning how to keep their bodies strong and healthy through nutrition—understanding how proper fuel helps them perform their best 💪🍎

From learning new skills to cheering on teammates and building lasting friendships, our campers continue to grow every single day!

This week was all about building connections—campers met new friends, got to know their counselors, and started building a strong community 💯

We also kicked off S.E.T.S., and campers are already putting it into action! Huge shoutout to those earning their S.E.T.S. pins early 👏🔥
