Good morning!
Week 1 has finally arrived. Here's what you need to know.
I have attached a screenshot of the schedule for this Sunday. You can always access this at GridironColumbus.com (as long as you are signed in). Hover over Team Central and select Calendar, or choose Posted Schedules and select your team if you'd like to print/download the schedule for the season.
There is a one hour practice before your game each week. The start time on the schedule is for your game, not your practice, so please arrive at least one hour before your game is scheduled.
The games are played on the grass fields at Fouse Elementary. You can park in the front lots and walk around to the back. You will see three football fields, marked by massive orange flags noting their field number. If you have a 2p game (first game of the day), your team can practice on that field. If you play at 3:00 or 4:00, your coach will choose a spot to practice at nearby. They should communicate this with you.
If you have any questions when you arrive, the first thing you see should be the Gridiron tent. Stop by and we'll help you with anything you need.
Don't forget to have your kids bring a mouthguard, and we strongly recommend cleats.
Your coaches will have your jerseys, shorts and flags.
Reminder, there are no games on October 19th. Every single team will play at least one game in the playoffs on October 26th. We won't know what the playoff schedule looks like until the Regular Season is complete.
Last, we do have college football scouts that attend our games from time to time, so make sure your kids bring their A-game. Win at all costs!!!! Related, if our referees miss a call, please make sure to let them know, preferably loudly. A scholarship could be on the line this Sunday!!!
Also, everything in that last sentence was sarcastic and untrue, except the part about me living vicariously through my kid.
