Today, we highlight a FarmHouse Alumni who has inspired many through his Faith!
Grant Cory graduated from Ohio State in 2018 with a B.S. in Agriculture majoring in Agricultural Systems Management. During his time as a student, he and several other FarmHouse brothers were involved with a campus church called H2O Church and attended weekly small groups and worship services, as well as fall retreats, men’s retreats, and international mission trip programs throughout the year. In 2017, he went on my first mission trip with a team from H2O, which included brothers Landon Lindemer and Justin Bower and their now spouses. They spent a week in Haiti running a Vacation Bible School for children in the community and getting to show and share with them the love and grace of Jesus. On the trip, God broke his heart for the nations that have not heard of Jesus, and he first began to pray about and consider a career in ministry.
After much prayer and counsel, he graduated from OSU and raised financial support to return to join H2O Church's staff as a full-time, support-based campus missionary and be a part of God’s work reaching college students at Ohio State for Jesus. Most of his roles and responsibilities with H2O involved mentoring young men in his church and creating spaces for their students to connect with church community, read Scripture, and live out the gospel in their everyday lives. He also had the opportunity to create and lead one of the international mission trips to Costa Rica and two of the mission trips to the Netherlands. He served as a campus missionary with H2O Church at Ohio State for 5 years.
In the fall of 2024, Grant moved to Texas to join one of H2O's sister churches, Taproot Church, in their work to reach the campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He didn't fully anticipate how vastly different the cultural context of life and ministry would be from Columbus to San Antonio, and how difficult (and often exhausting) it would be to adjust to the new culture and be away from his place, people, and culture of origin in Ohio. Living in Texas for two years and doing ministry in a wildly different cultural context has been one of the most challenging and rewarding things Grant has ever done, and he is deeply grateful his time in San Antonio and all the lessons and perspectives the Lord has given him these past two years.

After finishing my two-year commitment with Taproot Church this summer, I decided to move back to Ohio to be closer to family and community. I'll be taking a sabbatical this fall in Columbus, OH, to have some intentional time of rest, refreshment, and reflection as I pray and prepare for where the Lord leads me next in my campus ministry career. After my sabbatical, I hope and plan to continue in vocational ministry in a college campus context somewhere in or around Ohio in this next season of life and ministry.
Outside of ministry work, I enjoy reading, brewing and drinking specialty coffee, and exploring and experiencing the outdoors through hiking and birding. I've also recently been discovering a personal love and passion for history and antiquing, a passion shared by the rest of my family and our connection to our family farm. Our family farm in Frankfort, OH, has been in our family since 1800, and as I've gotten older, I've found myself more grateful to be a part of a long legacy of agriculture, as well as have a physical location that is closely connected to my family's history and heritage. I look forward being closer to farm and family in this next chapter of life.
