October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, an important time to recognize the impact domestic violence can have on children and families. Children who witness intimate partner violence or other forms of family violence may experience lasting physical, emotional, and psychological effects. Exposure to violence can affect children well beyond childhood and, without support and intervention, may contribute to patterns that continue into adulthood.

Awareness matters. Support matters. Speaking up matters. For help or information, contact the Georgia Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-33-HAVEN (1-800-334-2836).
