This year, as the number of outstanding youth we recognize continues to grow, MY Project USA is separating our Annual Gala and Youth Excellence Awards into two special events. On Sunday, October 18, we’ll gather for an evening dedicated entirely to celebrating youth leadership, service, resilience, and impact — without an active fundraiser during the program.

We’ll present the Deah Barakat Awards, Chrys Gee Activist Award, Resilience Awards, and other recognitions honoring exceptional young people from MY Project USA and across our community.

The Chrys Gee Activist Award honors grassroots service and advocacy, and our Resilience Award recognizes extraordinary leaders whose perseverance and impact inspire others.

After the success of the Mind & Wellness Summit, Wellness Warriors, our Muslim high school youth collaborative, is launching its first Wellness Connect gathering with an important conversation on su***de prevention.

Join our youth leaders to learn how to recognize warning signs, start supportive conversations, and connect people to help.

Empower the Future 5K — Thank You

What an incredible day! 💙

Our inaugural Empower the Future 5K was truly a blast, and we are still feeling so grateful for everyone who came out to run, walk, volunteer, support, and celebrate with us.

A huge THANK YOU to 614MRC for partnering with MY Project USA and helping turn a dream we had talked about for years into reality. Special appreciation to Fati, Jumana, Yara, Mohammad, and the entire 614MRC team for the countless hours, planning, and hard work behind the scenes.

And a big shout-out to our MY Project USA staff, volunteers, and Climate Justice Warriors who showed up early, stayed late, handled setup, food, activities, cleanup, and everything in between. This truly took a community.

Most importantly, thank you to every family, runner, walker, supporter, and friend who joined us. You made our very first 5K one to remember.

For more than a decade, MY Project USA and our Muslim community have been showing up for Columbus, serving people of all backgrounds through food assistance, youth empowerment, health care, education, and essential resources.

This is our footprint. This is faith and compassion in action.

On September 13, we’re coming together for the Empower the Future 5K, and we want our whole community there.

This is more than a 5K. Your participation helps support MY Project USA programs that meet real needs every day, including:

Youth leadership, mentoring, and prevention programs
Hilltop Free Clinic and community health initiatives
Mid-Ohio Market at MY Project USA & MY Family Pantry for food access
MY Soup Kitchen, providing free hot meals to people in need
MY Helpline, helping families facing housing instability with rent, utilities, and other urgent needs
Wellness Warriors and youth wellness programs
Climate Justice Warriors and the Climate Justice Lab
Education, family support, and community empowerment programs

A Parent’s Perspective on Building a Healthier Community

At the Mind & Wellness Summit held on August 22 at NICC, Fauzia Chuhadry shared her reflections on the importance of bringing families, youth, professionals, and community leaders together around mental health and wellness.

As a parent and Treasurer of the MY Project USA Board, Fauzia has seen firsthand how important it is for families to have supportive spaces, trusted resources, and stronger community connections.

The summit was one step forward—but this work must continue.
