Healthcare Careers: Nursing Spotlight 🩺✨

On August 9, our MY Leaders dug into careers in nursing with Sr. .wehrhan (Director of Education, ) and a team of Alia nursing students. The session was candid, practical, and inspiring—covering college applications, choosing a path, staying focused, and the many roles within nursing and broader healthcare. Youth asked smart questions, networked, and even made plans to tour Alia to learn more.

This moment was extra special because Sr. Sandra opened the doors of her office at Alia Healthcare to host our very first Summer Youth Leadership Camp in 2015—and she’s been with us since the beginning. Her message on diversity in healthcare—and how minorities often have to carve pathways so future generations see providers who truly represent their communities—resonated deeply with our teens.

MY Leaders spent their Saturday afternoon volunteering at the MY Community Café making snack packs for the Warming Center clients. Youth discussed the importance of serving and helping those experiencing homelessness and had fun working together for a cause!

Our MY Leaders were out in full force, showing their incredible support for the Hilltop Tigers at their recent soccer game! With homemade signs in hand and loud cheers, they rallied behind the team, proving just how powerful it is to show up for each other in every endeavor. At MY Project USA, we believe in building strong, supportive communities where everyone has each other’s back, and that’s exactly what our youth leaders are doing. By raising a generation that values friendship, encouragement, and perseverance, we’re creating bonds that last a lifetime. We couldn’t be prouder of the Hilltop Tigers for their hard work and determination on the field. Keep shining, Tigers! ⚽️🐯🙌

🌟 We are proud to share that two of our dedicated Youth Mentors, Alina Hussein and Bashir Ahmed, recently took part in the Department of Neighborhoods Columbus New American Program Ubuntu Conversation Series as youth panelists. They contributed their insights on crucial topics including:

✨Initiatives that Need to be in Schools: Highlighting the programs and support systems essential for student success.

✨Engaging with the Youth: Discussing effective strategies to connect and communicate with young people.

✨Community Barriers: Identifying and addressing the obstacles that impact our communities.

Their participation not only showcased their leadership but also emphasized the importance of youth voices in shaping our educational and community landscapes. We’re proud of their contributions and the impact they’re making!
