But first, a refresher on OneCourt .

OneCourt is a tactile broadcast product designed for those with low vision and blindness to enjoy NFL,NBA, and MLB games at the stadiums and ballparks using live data provided by said organizations. ONEcourt allows the user to “feel” the game via vibrations with no lagging. 🏀⚾🏈

Now to the update: OneCourt has announced that they are making the devices available to users in the comfort of their own home! Using a tablet and smart phone along with a subscription, you can access every game offered with no blackout dates. These at home devices are now up for pre-order with delivery promised this December.

All VOICEcorps listeners who love sports should know about our live call-in Saturday Sports Show which airs every Saturday( of course😆) at 10AM!

Say hello to VOICEcorps volunteer Kelli Clark! 👋

Kelli's volunteer story is unique in that she started the application process numerous times before finally clicking "submit". She felt a strong desire to work with others to help individuals with print disabilities access vital information. Kelli says that "being able to contribute to their quality of life through something as simple, yet powerful, as reading is both an honor and a responsibility I take seriously." 🫶

Not surprisingly, Kelli enjoys reading in her downtime. Currently she is reading "Primal Intelligence: You Are Smarter Than You Know" by Angus Fletcher but her two favorite books are "The Bait of Satan" by John Bevere and "The Mastery of Self" by Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. Being a well-rounded person, she is also incredibly passionate about acting (having been in 13 plays thus far) and has television and movie credits! 🎭

We are so grateful that Kelli lends her beautiful voice and time to us here at VOICEcorps. If you are interested in joining folks like Kelli in helping our blind, low vision, and print disabled listeners in our community, click after the arrow to get started ➡https://voicecorps.org/get-involved/volunteer/

We don’t enjoy having to think about the worst-case scenario in situations that may arise, but it is important to plan for the worst, especially if you can’t rely on your vision. 👁️‍🗨️

This article comes from West Virginia University- Occupational Therapy 's Heather Livengood who is an assistant professor at the school and is filled with some great advice and tips to keep in mind that you may want to implement in case of an emergency. 🚨

These include: labeling emergency supplies such as flashlights with bump dots or rubber bands, placing audible devices near exits, and using a water repellent spray for your eye glasses.

Doing these things ahead of an emergency situation can reduce stress and anxiety and allow you to focus on getting to safety. Don’t be scared, be prepared and keep VOICEcorps on for news, information, articles, and entertainment all day, every day.

Give yourself at least one hour out of the week where you can escape from the noise in the news and fall into a great science fiction story.

We have recently learned of the passing of long-time volunteer and supporter of VOICEcorps, William “Bill” J. Owen II.

Bill’s volunteer journey with us began on Jan 14th, 1993. He continued reading for nearly 30 years and made a lasting impact on the VOICEcorps staff and listeners. We are grateful for the many years of service and express deep sympathy to his wife Carol, his family, and to others that knew and loved him.

Carol has informed us that she will be asking for donations to VOICEcorps in memory of Bill, and for this we are greatly humbled. 💙

If you would like to contribute in Bill’s honor, please do so by clicking the following link https://tinyurl.com/HonorBillOwen

Vision loss, especially when it comes on suddenly, can be a scary “new normal” for the millions of people who experience significant lowered vision every year. 😦

According to this article written by Jim Miller, “it’s estimated that 12 million Americans ages 40 and older are living with uncorrectable vision loss, which is often caused by age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy.” That is a lot of folks who need some support and tips on how to navigate and live the best life possible. 🫶

Some tips include: using magnifiers, visiting a support group for those with low vision, finding a low-vision specialist, and of course, utilizing our free reading service! 💙

VOICEcorps is here for anyone with low vision, no vision, and any print disability that makes it difficult to access information, books, articles, and news.

It’s easy to get connected! Click after the arrow ➡ https://voicecorps.org/contact-us/
