If you have political signs that you want to recycle, SWACO is hosting an Election Yard Sign Recycling Event at the Bill McDonald Athletic Complex (4990 Olentangy River Road - near Bethel Road) this Saturday morning from 8AM to Noon. Cardboard, Plastic, Corrugated Plastic, and Paper Signs, along with the metal sign holders will be accepted.

Today, May 15, 2019, CPD’s Narcotics IN/TAC Unit executed 3 search warrants & court ordered abatements at the following addresses:

437 S Warren Ave.
589 S Warren Ave.
65 N Chase Ave.

This effort was due to the cooperation with neighborhood residents, Code Enforcement, CColumbus City Attorney Zach Kleins office , Community Liaison Officers, Zone 3 Patrol & Safe Streets program.

The court ordered these homes, which have become neighborhood centers of drug and criminal activity, to be boarded up pending further court action.

IN/TAC continues to work to close down problem homes in our neighborhoods.

STARTING MONDAY AUGUST 27, 2018 THROUGH MID-DECEMBER 2018, THE REFUSE DIVISION WILL BE NOTIFYING AFFECTED RESIDENTS ABOUT REPLACING 300 GALLON CONTAINERS WITH 90 GALLON CONTAINERS. A NOTICE WITH DETAILS ABOUT THIS TRANSITION IS BEING MAILED TO RESIDENTS IN AFFECTED AREAS PRIOR TO NEW 90 CONTAINERS BEING DELIVERED.

AUGUST THRU MID-SEPTEMBER- BOUNDARIES OF SULLIVANT AVE TO ROSEDALE AVE AND S. HAGUE TO DEMOREST RD.

I'm around cars daily with adults in the front and kids in the back, I watch as the adults smoke windows down (apparently they think it's safe for the kids), I watch as they smoke the cigs down until finally FLICK out the window with not a care in the world. This upsets me more than anything. The littering of cigarette butts that do not decay or disintegrate away or the fact that the kids learn that this is acceptable behavior because after all cigarette butts is not littering, right?

And let me ask you this? Why, seriously why haven't the to***co companies developed a butt (cigarette filter) that will decompose in the environment? And why hasn't anyone demanded that these to***co companies do so?

I am the block watch coordinator on the westside, Hilltop, and one of my neighbors is upset that she can't file police charges on an attack on her teenage daughter that occurred a couple of weeks ago because the responding officers at that time stated that they cannot press charges unless they know the birthdates of the attackers. WTF??? The attackers have been coming back to the home of the daughter to taunt and cause trouble with the other neighbors. The time prior they had guns. It happened again last evening and I stepped in after the police responded after three calls by neighbors stating that they were two busy to come out. The incident last night they just threw rocks at neighbors cars. When I stepped in and called I demanded that they come out to defray this escalating situation. I expressed my concern about community citizens being told that their concern cannot be handled because of "being too busy" Myself I find this appalling and poor customer service, especially in light of recent Columbus Police and community relations breakdowns. Additionally I asked about the knowing the birthdate of an attacker and was told the same thing. The first issue I'll try and have a discussion with my Community Police Liaison Officer but the later if indeed true is definitely a bad practice especially when women-teenagers are being ganged up on and beaten up. Seems a notable news piece to explore further. Thanks for your consideration!
