We have two new exhibits at the Bartholomew County Historical Society museum!

Excavating Truths: The Beginning of Bartholomew County - As we celebrate and contemplate the origins of our 250-year-old nation, it makes sense to look back on the origins of our own “home” within the United States of America. Excavating Truths is about looking back on our history and noticing that different perspectives create different stories.

Hidden in Plain View: Black History in Bartholomew County - Black Americans have consistently lived in Bartholomew County since its founding. For over 200 years, local Black citizens have been running businesses, raising families, founding churches and teaching our children. This history has often been overlooked. This exhibit, in collaboration with Landmark Columbus Foundation and the new County Black Heritage Trail, explores that history and what current residents are doing to share the stories of those who have been hidden in plain view, and make them visible.
Black history IS American history.

There will be an exhibit opening event at the museum on August 27th. More details to come soon!
