Meet the Artists: Chasing Liberty Goods
We're excited to welcome back Adam & Kara Martin of Chasing Liberty Goods to Arts in the Park!

Adam and Kara specialize in upcycled creations, woodwork, illumination, handcrafted jewelry, and one-of-a-kind functional art. Their work is inspired by a passion for giving forgotten and neglected items new life, transforming vintage metals, reclaimed materials, and unique finds into beautiful, useful pieces with a story to tell.

Their creative journey began while searching for wedding bands and discovering handcrafted coin rings made from half dollars. What started as curiosity quickly turned into a passion, and after plenty of research, experimentation, and trial and error, Chasing Liberty Goods was born.

One of Adam's favorite creations is his rocket ship pipe lamp, a piece that perfectly captures the imaginative spirit behind their work. As he puts it, seeing people's faces light up when they discover one of his creations is what makes it all worthwhile.

When it's time to get inspired, you'll often find Adam wandering through antique malls, searching for hidden treasures and fresh ideas. If Chasing Liberty Goods had a soundtrack, it might be a blend of Forever Young by Iron & Wine and The View Between Villages by Noah Kahan, songs that reflect the nostalgia, creativity, and craftsmanship found in their work.

What they love most about Arts in the Park? The community. From connecting with fellow artists to sharing their craft and meeting neighbors, it's the people who make the event special.

Be sure to stop by their booth and see how ordinary objects are transformed into extraordinary works of art!

Arts in the Park 2026
Meet the Artists! Maggie, Nora, and Grace are gearing up for their fourth year at MPCA Arts in the Park. Now in sixth grade, the creative trio launched Jewelry Friends Forever (JFF) back in third grade after first meeting in kindergarten and first grade and quickly bonding over loom bracelet kits!
What began with bracelets & paintings has grown into a collection of clay jewelry, magnets, bookmarks, and repurposed tin-can organizers for art supplies. Inspiration comes from Pinterest, along with experimenting to discover new ideas and techniques. Maggie has been crocheting for a couple of years, Grace enjoys knitting, and Nora’s favorite medium is paint, giving their collection a wide range of styles and textures.
Most items are made individually, with ideas, photos, and updates shared along the way, plus get-togethers at Nora’s home on Woodley Rd. to collaborate in person. Event days are a highlight—time spent together, meeting customers, arranging their booth, and shopping to see what others create!
This young team is learning what sells, how to price items, and the importance of staying organized, offering variety, and creating quality products that appeal to all ages. Earnings are thoughtfully managed, with 10% donated each year to organizations like Pelotonia and Make-A-Wish, 20% set aside for supplies, and the rest shared. Their first year included a donation to the MP Police Department, a tradition of giving that has continued and grown!
Pricing continues to evolve as experience grows, especially when factoring in time and materials. Tracking how long each piece takes isn’t always easy, but supply costs are always considered. Helpful tips include clear signage with pricing, a cash box, and offering digital payment options for convenience.
Biggest advice for other young entrepreneurs? Stay motivated—sometimes that even means deleting distracting apps to stay focused and make the most of creative time.
