Update 4/9/2026: Sylvie spent time in a foster home. She is now located at the shelter with additional information available below. She is still in need of foster, adopter, or rescue. Here is what her previous foster has to say about her:
- Energy level: Medium – I could walk around the block
- Medical history: FHO surgery
- Allergies/dietary restrictions: None
- Personality traits: Playful, friendly, affectionate, aloof
- Cats: Unknown
- Dogs: Social on assessments, Selective prior to spay, needs to learn boundaries and respectful play behavior
- Children: No exposure to children
- Strangers: Friendly/social
- House trained: Yes
- Crate trained: Yes - sleeps in her crate at night and when fosters aren’t home
- Knows: Sit
Sylvie is a total cuddle bug who would happily lay in your lap on the couch for hours without moving—she just wants to snuggle. She may cry or whine initially when left alone or crated but is able to settle herself with time. She has shown some resource guarding of toys and may have some separation anxiety, so continued structure and patience will help her succeed. Overall, she is a sweet, affectionate girl who thrives on closeness and companionship.

Have you heard of the Animal Mission's Darla Fund?
The Animal Mission is Columbia Animal Services’ official nonprofit partner, working to reduce shelter overpopulation through affordable spay/neuter services, community support, and lifesaving resources. One of their programs, the Darla Fund, is a donation-based emergency medical fund that helps shelter dogs with treatable injuries — like Sylvie — get the specialized care they need.
Meet Sylvie, a proud Darla Fund success story. 🌟
Sylvie came to the shelter as a stray with a serious hip injury. After evaluation, she underwent FHO (femoral head osteotomy) surgery to relieve her pain and give her a chance at a normal, happy life. Thanks to the Darla Fund and a dedicated foster, Sylvie got surgery and is now ready for adoption (or rescue)!
Sylvie is a short, stocky little tornado 🌪️ with a big happy personality. She’s playful, energetic, and always ready for fun. Toys, treats, or zooming around, she loves it all. She knows how to sit, takes treats nicely, and is always exuding goofy energetic enthusiasm. She’s dog social and loves to play, though her play style might be a bit much for more laid-back companions.
We are so grateful for the Animal Mission, Sylvie’s foster, and everyone who supports the Darla Fund. Because of you, dogs like Sylvie get a second chance.
