There are so many things I love about being a JAG Specialist at ACHS, but one of the very best is the relationships built with students that continue long after graduation.

Tonight, I received a phone call from Dylan Baker, a 2025 ACHS graduate and former JAG student. He also sent me some pictures from Hawaii, where he is currently stationed as a Marine. Hearing about his experiences and seeing all that he is accomplishing made my day!

JAG is so much more than a program with a curriculum. It’s built on genuine relationships, mentorship, encouragement, and ongoing communication. Watching our students grow, pursue their goals, and succeed after high school is one of the most rewarding parts of this job.

Dylan, I am incredibly proud of you and thankful you took the time to call and share your journey. Keep doing great things! We’ll be cheering you on from Kentucky, and I hope you’ll come back and speak to our new JAG students.

“Once a JAG student, always part of the JAG family.” ❤️💙

Today, ACHS JAG students teamed up with Mr. Tony Just’s students to serve at JOY Ministries, and it was such a rewarding experience! Our students spent the day organizing, cleaning, and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed around the building.

We are so thankful our students had the opportunity to see firsthand what an incredible resource JOY Ministries is for our community. Even more exciting, Krystal was able to get several students signed up for Mission Week this summer!

It’s always meaningful to connect students with organizations that make a difference and to remind them of the importance of service, teamwork, and giving back. We are grateful for the chance to serve alongside such wonderful people.

A huge thank you to Krystal, Faith, and the entire JOY staff for welcoming us and allowing us to be part of your day! ❤️

Senior Signing Day ✍️
At the beginning of this year, I stood in front of them as a first-year JAG specialist, grateful that they trusted me, supported me, and were willing to grow alongside me. I’m also incredibly proud of how far they have come.

We talked at the start of the year about JAG’s mission, which is to empower you to overcome barriers and succeed in education, employment, and life. Here are pictures to prove…
Some of them are heading to college.
One of them is stepping up to serve in the military, and a couple of them are entering the workforce.
These are different paths, but every single one of them takes courage, responsibility, and determination, and every single one of them is something to be proud of.

As they signed today, it wasn’t just a celebration of where they are going. It’s a recognition of everything it took to get here.

I am so proud of each and every one of them.

We toured Somerset Community College today and were introduced to many great programs! If you are a hands-on learner, thrive on small, personal classroom settings, and desire a degree in 2 years or less, check out Somerset Community College. My JAG students are now fans of SCC!

What an incredible day with my JAG students!

They stepped into the real world today by participating in mock interviews and learning valuable dining etiquette skills from Debbie Cowan. They then put those skills into practice while enjoying a delicious meal prepared by Ashley Curry. It was such a fun and important experience for them.

Tony Rose led small group activities that helped students build communication and teamwork skills, and it was amazing to watch them grow more confident throughout the day. We wrapped everything up at the park, where they got to relax, laugh, and enjoy the beautiful weather after a full day of “adulting.”

I am so proud of the growth I’ve seen in these students since January. I’m also incredibly grateful for everyone who helped make this day possible, especially our 4H Extension Agent Tony Rose.

My JAG kids had the best day, and they absolutely deserve it! 💙

Our JAG students had a great day touring Sumitomo in Edmonton. They learned so much about how a factory operates and asked great questions. We wrapped up the day at the park, where they got to enjoy the beautiful weather. We teach them to be professional and act like adults, but it was just as important to let them be kids and have fun too!

We’ve worked through resumes and cover letters, practiced job applications, talked through interview outfits, and prepared for what to do before and during an interview… and now we’re focusing on what comes after!

These two everyday leaders stepped up to model a follow-up thank you phone call for the class, showing confidence and professionalism. So proud of their willingness to lead!

If you have any interview tips or advice, please let me know. My students love hearing from the real world and learning what it truly takes to land the job!

Today two of my JAG students and I traveled to Frankfort for JAG Capitol Day! We had the opportunity to meet with Representative Amy Neighbors, who is always so kind to talk with and very supportive of the JAG program.

Jolene Nuszbaum and Bre Whitaker were definitely a little nervous at first (this was their first time meeting a state representative and being around so many important leaders), but they did an amazing job. They shared how JAG has helped them grow in communication, confidence, and career research, and they thanked Rep. Neighbors for supporting and helping fund programs like JAG that make such a difference for students.

One more important detail… they wore heels to the Capitol Annex Building. After a full day of walking and meetings, those heels quickly turned into house shoes on the ride home. 😄

A great day full of firsts, learning experiences, and proud teacher moments. So thankful for the opportunities JAG gives our students!

JAG was proudly represented at ACHS Homecoming!

Kaili Adams and Leshawn Hamilton truly embody the qualities every teacher hopes to see: hard-working, positive, and always smiling. They are outstanding students and incredible representatives of our program.

Thank you for being such amazing JAG candidates and good human beings. I am so proud of you! ❤️
