Adair County Retired Teacher Meeting

The Adair County Retired Teacher Association will meet Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. cst.
The meeting will be held at the Adair County Chamber of Commerce Building, 201 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY.
If you are a new retiree- and there were several- please join us for retirement recognition. Our local AARP grandparent essay winner will be reading her written tribute to her grandparent. Sheriff Gary Roy will be speaking to our group about fraud prevention. Dues for the up-coming year
may be paid and we will be collecting donations for school supplies as well as the food pantry. All retired teachers are encouraged to attend.

There’s some good news here for retirees.

The final budget fully funds both the TRS Pension Liability and the Health Insurance Trust Fund. While many state agencies saw cuts, lawmakers stayed committed to meeting pension obligations — and that’s something we are very thankful for. There also appears to be funding included for under-65 health insurance (KEHP), although the exact numbers are not yet clear.

The legislature will return on April 14 and 15 to review any vetoes and finalize remaining items. We’ll continue to watch things closely and keep you updated if anything changes.
