Last week's episode of Think Inclusive takes you inside TerpsEXCEED at the University of Maryland, a two-year program that offers students with intellectual disability a full college experience: classes, employment, and campus life alongside their peers. Betsy Tornquist and Amy D'Agati walk through how the program works and the impact it's making, and you'll also hear from peer mentors and students themselves. The numbers are impressive. The stories are better. Listen at go.mcie.org/1331 or wherever you get your podcasts.

Getting a campus tour from the best guides around! 🐢✨ Betsy (academic coordinator) shares what makes TerpsEXCEED at UMD so special — including the numbers behind this incredible program — while Evan walks us through campus landmarks like Testudo, UMD’s beloved mascot. (Rub his nose for good luck — we did! 🤞)

This week’s episode of Think Inclusive dives into what makes TerpsEXCEED different, how it opens the door to college for students with intellectual disability, and the real impact it’s making — told by program staff, peer mentors, and the students themselves.

What does it mean to be an inclusionist? This episode was recorded live at our last Summer Institute, where Margo Gross, Lisa Quinn, Jennifer Ayers, and Jennifer Sommerness talked honestly about what it takes to keep going in this work — the hard conversations, the near misses, and the moments that remind you why it matters. Listen here: https://go.mcie.org/6GhccG

Belonging is the result of intentional leadership and systems that are built to include everyone.
That's what our two keynote speakers bring to the 2026 MCIE Summer Institute.
Keith Jones, President and CEO of SoulTouchin' Experiences and a disability rights advocate whose work sits at the intersection of race, disability, and community empowerment. And Margo Gross, educator, certified life coach, and author, whose work centers on identifying and dismantling the barriers that keep students from thriving.
Together they will anchor both days of Breaking Barriers for Authentic Inclusion.
June 23 and 24 at the Westin Baltimore Washington Airport.
