ALERT PARENTS!!! NEW DEADLY TEEN TREND!

The "Benadryl Challenge" is a highly dangerous and potentially lethal internet trend where participants ingest massive, excessive doses of the over-the-counter allergy medication diphenhydramine (commonly known as Benadryl). The challenge primarily spreads via social media platforms like TikTok, prompting adolescents and young adults to film themselves taking 12 or more tablets at once to induce hallucinations or experience a "high".Medical experts, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and poison control centers heavily warn against this challenge. It has led to multiple hospitalizations, severe medical emergencies, and documented deaths among teenagers.

If natural endorphins lessen pain and boost mood, why not increase this effect by flooding the brain with artificial opioids, thereby intensifying the brain’s own “feel-good” chemistry? Because it would disrupt the brain’s chemical balancing act. When flooded with opioid drugs such as he**in, morphine, and fentanyl (a powerful synthetic opioid), the brain—to maintain its chemical balance—may stop producing its own natural opioids. When the drug is withdrawn, the brain may then be deprived of any form of opioid, causing intense discomfort. For suppressing the body’s own neurotransmitter production, nature charges a price.
Drugs and other chemicals affect brain chemistry. Agonist molecules increase a neurotransmitter’s action. Some agonists may increase the production or release of neurotransmitters, or block reuptake in the synapse. Other agonists may be similar enough to a neurotransmitter to bind to its receptor and mimic its excitatory or inhibitory effects. Some opioid drugs, then, are agonists and produce a temporary “high” by amplifying normal sensations of arousal or pleasure.

"We believe that our Higher Power will take care of us."

We all have times when it seems as though our lives are falling apart. There are days, or even weeks, when it seems that everything that can go wrong is going wrong. Whether it's the loss of a job, the death of a loved one, or the end of a relationship, we doubt that we'll survive the changes taking place in our lives.

It's during the times when the world is crashing down around our ears that we find our greatest faith in a loving Higher Power. No human being could relieve our suffering; we know that only God's care can provide the comfort we seek. We feel broken but we go on, knowing that our lives will be repaired.

As we progress in our recovery and our faith in our Higher Power grows, we are sure to greet the difficult times with a sense of hope, despite the pain we may be in. We need not despair, for we know that our Higher Power's care will carry us through when we can't walk on our own.

Just for Today: I will rely on God's care through the painful times, knowing that my Higher Power will always be there.
