Discover the joy of MUSIC in "The Instrument Lab", a new summer workshop from Brazosport Symphony Orchestra, scheduled for June 29 - July 2 for students going into 2nd - 5th grades! 🎵🎶🎵🎶 BSOinvites students to explore a different instrument family each day, from strings and woodwinds to brass and percussion.

Guided by orchestra members and local music educators, participants will learn how instruments work, how they sound and what makes each one unique. Perfect for beginners, "The Instrument Lab" is an inspiring first step for students considering band or orchestra in middle school…and a chance to find the instrument that speaks to them!

📢📢📢STARTS TOMORROW...SIGN UP ASAP! 📢📢📢 Join instructor Dana Moody Stevens for a three-week Mixed Media Workshop from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM on 3 consecutive Tuesdays: June 16, June 23 and June 30 in Brazosport Art League studio. (Check out some examples of previous mixed media projects by Dana!)

Registration is $100 and includes all supplies. The workshop is open to all levels of adult artists. Projects will include alcohol ink, acrylic paint & paper collage, and participants will leave the workshop with at least one completed artwork.

Come visit us this weekend! It's FREE and there's so much to see and do!

Brazosport Museum of Natural Science and Brazosport Art League gallery are open today 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM and Sunday from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Come check out our collections of shells, fossils (including dinos!), rocks & minerals, wildlife and historical artifacts in the museum, and the "Venus Between Us" art exhibit in the gallery.

Swing by BASF Planetarium today for Star & Space Story Time at 12:30 PM, followed by family-friendly planetarium show, "Earth, Moon & Sun", at 1:00 PM.

All activities are FREE except planetarium shows, which are free to planetarium members or $5/person for non-members. Check out our schedule and make your free reservations in the lobby when you arrive or online: bcfas.org/events/

Brazosport Art League members and local artists Cynthia Kethley and Inga Howard opened their new exhibit, "Venus Between Us: The Space Where Beauty Lives in Relationships", last Friday evening in the gallery with a great turnout of family, friends and community members!

If you missed it, be sure to swing by the gallery this month to see the show before it closes on Sunday, July 5. It's always FREE to visit, but please secure your reservations before you arrive at bcfas.org/visit or check-in at the lobby desk when you arrive.

Gallery hours are 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Sundays.

Don't miss the FUN coming up this weekend at BASF Planetarium! 🔭👩‍🚀🌙🚀

Join us for Friday Planetarium Activities at 12:30 PM, with FREE interactive science experiments & activities and then get tickets for the 1:00 PM planetarium show, "Saturn & Beyond".

On Saturday, we'll kick things off at 12:30 PM with our FREE Star & Space Story Time, reading "Sadie Soars Into Space", followed at 1:00 PM by planetarium show "Earth, Moon & Sun."

We are excited to announce that the submission period for art for our Los Vivos y Los Mu***os 4th Annual Juried Exhibition is OPEN NOW! https://losvivosylosmuertos2026.artcall.org/

Los Vivos y Los Mu***os is an exhibition featuring art that explores and honors the cultures, heritage, traditions and rich history of Mexico and the southwest United States with a concentration on work inspired by Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead). Dia de los Mu***os is a vibrant, multi-day Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief, joyful reunion.

Established and emerging artists (ages 14 and above) are invited to submit images of completed work for consideration through Monday, August 31. A Best in Show prize of $1,000 will be awarded to a single piece. Ribbons will be awarded to the winner in each media category for an emerging artist and an established artist.

The art exhibition will be held at The Center for the Arts & Sciences, hosted by Brazosport Fine Arts Council, from Tuesday, October 6 through Monday, November 2!
