Some good news we couldn’t wait to share!

Earlier this year, one of our members, Tomeka, joined a job coaching group at The Care Center with the goal of getting back to work. She found a part-time job close to home over the summer, but without reliable transportation, finding full-time work wasn’t easy.

Just a few weeks ago, she received a car of her own through Wheels!

Having reliable transportation opens up so many possibilities, from where you can work to how consistently you can get there. Now, she has more options as she looks for full-time employment and continues building stability for herself and her family.

We’re so excited to celebrate this milestone with her!

Proud to partner with The Care Center to help people get through challenges

A broken-down car meant Courtney could lose her job. And her kids could lose their ride to school.

Courtney is a single parent who's been doing everything right, working hard, showing up every day, keeping her family moving forward. But her vehicle needed repairs she couldn't afford, and in her area, there's no bus service to fall back on. If that car gave out for good, she'd be stuck without a replacement until next year. That's not just an inconvenience. That's her job on the line. That's her kids missing school.

Through our partnership with Wheelstransinc , Courtney now has a reliable vehicle, and with it, steadier ground under her family.

This is what reliable transportation actually means for a family like Courtney's: getting to work on time, getting kids to school every day, and one less thing standing between her and the stability she's been working so hard to build.

"My plan going forward is to keep working hard to not be in this position again," Courtney told us. That kind of determination is exactly what Wheels exists to support, not to rescue people, but to remove the barriers standing between hardworking people and the future they're already working toward.

Glad we could help this family

🔑 A set of keys, a year in the making.

A year ago, a storm flooded Marrick's tailpipe and the car never ran again. Since then, Marrick has found ways to make it work, including after welcoming a new baby who needs regular appointments and a parent who needs to get to work.

Marrick has been working with our Thrive at Work program toward new employment, and through that involvement, connected with our partnership with Wheels. This week, that work led to a vehicle.

A car isn't just transportation. It's showing up for the baby's appointments. Getting to work on time. One less thing standing between Marrick and the stability being built one day at a time.

"I appreciate this opportunity so much," Marrick shared.
