URGENT! Impounded 10/6/26 & 10/7/26
(Link Below)

These dogs need to be picked up by their owners (and adopters desperately needed).
More pups impounded 10/6/26 & 10/7/26
in Cleveland, Ohio. *There are links below to view all of the pups.*

HELP IS NEEDED NOW! The Cleveland Kennel is full. Pups need to be picked up by their owners immediately. When the kennel is full, good, adoptable, healthy dogs loose their lives because there isn't space to hold them. They are legally required to hold all new intake for their stray hold in hopes that owners come and pick them up.

Not everyone is on social media, so you can also let anyone who has lost a pet to know they can check out www.clepups.com or visit the Cleveland Kennel to look for their missing dog.
These pups NEED TO GO BACK TO THEIR FAMILIES!

Space is limited. Adopters and rescue pulls are needed now.
Please share so that their families see this and reclaim them immediately. When the shelter is full, as it has been, and large numbers of dogs are impounded, lives are lost to make room for new intakes when owners don't come to claim them the adoption rates are slow.

EXTREMELY URGENT PLEASE SHARE!

Please follow CLE Pups for updates. We always pin the current list of dogs who are urgent at the Cleveland Kennel at the top of our page.

These are some of the pups at the Cleveland (Ohio) Kennel who may have the most limited time to find adopters or rescues if/when they run out of space due to high levels of intakes and are at risk of being euthanized. The Cleveland Kennel is full. Help is needed now. Time is not guaranteed for any dog or puppy. If you are interested in possibly adopting, fill out a meet and greet request form immediately.

They are an open intake shelter and do not have control over how many come in, but they have a limited number of kennels. They are legally required to take every stray found in the city and hold them in hopes that their owners come to pick them up.

The live release rate in 2024 was 73.9%. In 2025, through August, the live release rate was 74.3%. Only around 25% of the dogs impounded at the Cleveland Kennel ever have owners come to claim them. Help is certainly needed and urgency is real.

The live release rate is the percentage of dogs that leave a shelter/kennel alive and includes those returned to owners, adopted out or transferred to another rescue/shelter. The inverse of this is the percentage of dogs that are euthanized and die while in custody of a shelter/kennel.

Please this post on your own profile page, on other social media platforms and in groups that you are in. These pups need us to get the word out about how awesome and in need they are.

If you know anyone who has lost their dog, ask them to check www.clepups.com regularly. Some of these pups may still have moms and dads looking for them.
If you are open to fostering (any type, size, breed, age) of dog, but aren't connected to a rescue, please reach out to us and we can help you connect with a rescue near you.

Please remember that we keep this collage updated (pictures of dogs in the collage are still in need) and, or transparency, post comments indicating what happened to dogs who were in the collage previously. We have this pinned to the top of the page at all times to make it easy for you to find and share. These pups can be adopted or pulled by rescue organizations.

Think that the Cleveland Kennel only has (the most amazing) Pitties for adoption? Nope! Look at all of these amazing dogs who are sitting there waiting for their forever moms and dads to find them!
As an open intake shelter, they can not control the number of dogs that come in, but they do have limited space. Every adoption from the Cleveland Kennel can save a life. It could be the one that you are adopting or the new intake that needs an open cage so that they can be listed for adoption, if their owner does not come to claim them during their stray hold.
Maybe YOU are their perfect mom or dad and they are YOUR PERFECT PUP!
Maybe it’s YOU WHO WILL SAVE A LIFE!

😽😻😺 BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! CAT-FRIENDLY ADOPTABLE DOGS!

If you have a foster pup who lived with or is living with cats currently, please post a comment with their name, photo, link to their adoption application and link to their adoptable dog profile page. We will get their photos added to the post itself.

If you know someone with cats who is interested in adopting a dog, please share this link with them!

Most of the dogs available for adoption through rescues are in foster homes and some are already living with cats like Calvin who was on News 5 Cleveland with us in July and available for adoption through Forget Me Not Animal Rescue.

Did you know that many dogs that are available for adoption from the Cleveland Kennel are also in foster homes because the staff and volunteers there are amazing? Some are in foster homes with cats (and other dogs and kids).

Adopting a dog from a foster home (either from a shelter or through a rescue) often saves the life of a dog you will never meet, which is incredibly special. When a foster home opens up, they are able to take in another from an overcrowded shelter or unsafe living situation. The adopter becomes a part of this lifesaving process.
