Safe habits taste sweet! 🍦🚲 Huge congratulations to Honey Hut Ice Cream in Old Brooklyn, named our Community Partner of the Month for August 2026!

A neighborhood staple since 1974, Honey Hut partnered with 2nd District Patrol Officer Katie Medwid this summer to reward kids wearing their bike helmets with free ice cream coupons.

As 2nd District Commander Tim Maffo-Judd noted, initiatives like this put smiles on kids' faces while instilling habits that keep them safe.

Thank you, Honey Hut, for always welcoming our community with kindness and stepping up to protect our youngest riders! 👏❤️

Quick thinking under pressure saves lives. Please join us in honoring Patrol Officer James English ( #336) and Patrol Officer Isiah Johnson ( #1147) as our Police Officers of the Month for August 2026! 🎖️

On a hot afternoon this past July, Officers English and Johnson were flagged down near E. 147th and St. Clair Ave. for an injured man collapsed in the roadway. Moving him quickly to shade and out of oncoming traffic, the officers monitored his vital signs as his condition rapidly worsened.

When the man stopped breathing, both officers acted without hesitation—administering two rounds of Narcan to restart his respiration and stabilizing him until EMS arrived for hospital transport.

Nominated by 5th District Lt. Marcus Montanaro, these officers represent the highest level of service, compassion, and duty. Thank you, Officers English and Johnson, for being there when it mattered most.
