Last week, our mobility team attended Mobility Works' conference in Downtown Cleveland! The two-day event brought attendees together to build community, deepen their expertise, and intensify the collective commitment to self-determination and choice for low-income families.

Our Mobility Program Director, Michael Lepley, led a session on trauma-informed pre-move mobility services, shedding light on the importance of mental health considerations in the context of mobility service delivery.

Cleveland Heights tenants are invited to a series of town halls to learn about their rights to safe and healthy rental housing. Each event includes a community discussion, helpful resources, presentations, and an opportunity to speak with an attorney about housing conditions and the rent escrow process. Yesterday, we shared resources and connected with residents at the Aging Well Senior Expo, hosted by the Lorain County Office on Aging. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with local agencies, products, and services designed to help seniors age successfully in the place they choose to call home. Criminal justice system professionals often inadvertently overlook what it is like for people to return to the community after incarceration. The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association invites you to reflect on that experience by participating in a realistic reentry simulator on Thursday, October 22nd.

Approved for 2.0 hours of CLE, this program is designed to build empathy and deepen understanding, highlighting the legal and human realities of reentry and the role attorneys and community stakeholders play in supporting successful reintegration.

She shared valuable insight into how the City of Cleveland is working to advance lead safety and how legislation can be used as tool to increase accountability, making Cleveland's homes safer and healthier.

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) provides federal housing protections for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking who are living in or applying to HUD‑assisted housing programs. Under the Act, survivors cannot be denied housing, evicted, or have their assistance terminated in federally subsidized housing because of their status as a survivor. During our recent Housing & Community Development Forum on Advancing a Lead Safe Cleveland, Dr. David Margolius, Director of Public Health for the City of Cleveland, provided insight on the public health impacts of lead exposure and how the city is working to advance lead safety.
