A New Chapter in Board Leadership 🌟

Art Therapy Studio is excited to welcome our newly elected Board officers:

✨ Matt Perlman — President
✨ Marques Williams — Vice President
✨ Marilea Campomizzi — Treasurer
✨ Marci Rathburn — Secretary

Each of these leaders has already shared their time, talents, and expertise with ATS as members of our Board of Directors, and we are grateful for their willingness to step into these new roles and help guide the organization forward.

As we welcome our new officers, we also want to recognize four individuals who have provided extraordinary leadership to Art Therapy Studio over the past six years:

💛 Diane Weidrick — President
💛 Marilea Campomizzi — Vice President
💛 Sara Rufo — Treasurer
💛 Carmen Alcorn — Secretary

Six years of leadership represents countless meetings, decisions, conversations, challenges, celebrations, and hours given in service to our mission. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and steady leadership Diane, Marilea, Sara, and Carmen have provided to ATS.

And while Marilea may be appearing on both lists, that's no mistake! After six years as Vice President, she is continuing her service as our new Treasurer, helping provide valuable continuity as we welcome this next generation of Board leadership.

Please join us in thanking our outgoing officers for their remarkable service and congratulating Matt, Marques, Marilea, and Marci as they take on their new roles! 🎉

🥭 Sometimes you just need a Mango Bango break!

The work we do at Art Therapy Studio keeps us busy, but we also know there's something to be said for stepping away from our desks for a few minutes, sharing lunch, and recharging together.

Michelle and Cheryl will often take a little time during the day to have lunch together, catch up, problem-solve, laugh, and—on this particular afternoon—try a homemade Mango Bango! 🥭🥥

Because taking care of a team isn't always about meetings, calendars, and to-do lists. Sometimes it's simply making room in the day to sit down together and enjoy something ridiculously delicious.

Judging by Cheryl's thumbs-up, this experiment was a success. 😂👍

Here's to good food, good coworkers, and remembering to make a little space to refresh during the workday. 💜

💜 We Love When Our Interns Come Back to Visit!

One of the best parts of welcoming interns to Art Therapy Studio is getting to see where life takes them afterward—and, every once in a while, getting to welcome them back!

Sara interned with Art Therapy Studio several years ago, and recently stopped by Upcycle Parts Shop to say hello to Cheryl, reconnect, and join in the artmaking.

Our interns become such an important part of the Studio while they're here, so it always means a lot when former interns stop in, stay connected, or find their way back to us years later. 💜

Thanks for joining Cheryl's workshop, Sara! It was wonderful to see you again—and there will always be a seat at the art table for our ATS alumni. 🎨

💜 It Takes a Community

In our last post, we shared why Art Therapy Studio made the strategic decision to consolidate our administrative offices and establish a satellite office at the Malachi Center Community Hub.

This week, we wanted to share what that journey actually looked like.

Before we could expand access to community art therapy, there were moving trucks, packed boxes, furniture to assemble, art supplies to organize, community rooms to prepare, and an incredible team willing to roll up their sleeves.

This wasn't what it took to launch a single program—it was the work of building a stronger foundation for the many partnerships and community-based programs that now allow us to serve more people throughout Northeast Ohio.

A heartfelt thank you to our staff, volunteers, community partners, and Berea Moving & Storage Co. for helping us through this transition. Your time, effort, and teamwork helped create welcoming spaces where creativity, connection, and healing can flourish.

Sometimes the most important work happens before the first participant ever walks through the door.

Thank you for helping us build the future of Art Therapy Studio. 💜

📦 More Than a Move

Growth isn't always measured by adding more space. Sometimes it's measured by making better use of the space—and resources—you already have.

This year, Art Therapy Studio made the strategic decision to consolidate our administrative offices into a smaller, more efficient space on the fourth floor at Fairhill Partners while establishing a satellite office at the Malachi Center Community Hub.

At first glance, it might have looked like we were simply moving offices. In reality, we were creating new opportunities to better serve our community.

By thoughtfully reducing our administrative footprint and expanding our presence in community-based spaces, we've been able to invest more in what matters most—bringing art therapy and therapeutic art directly to people where they live, learn, work, and gather.

Combined with the generosity of our donors, grantmakers, and community partners—including the Christine M. Treu Memorial Fund, Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, and the Ohio Arts Council—this strategic shift also helped us remove participation fees for our community groups, making free community art therapy and therapeutic art programs more accessible than ever before.

Today, Art Therapy Studio's work extends far beyond our offices. You'll find our team providing programs and building partnerships throughout Northeast Ohio, including:

🎨 Julio de Burgos Cultural Arts Center
🎨 Fairmount Center for the Arts
🎨 MetroHealth Via Sana
🎨 Upcycle Parts Shop
🎨 moCa Cleveland
🎨 Fairhill Partners Senior Day
🎨 Life Exchange Center
🎨 West Side Community House

Behind every community program are countless hours of planning, teamwork, and partnership. These photos capture just a small part of what it took to create spaces where creativity, connection, and healing can flourish.

Sometimes the best investment isn't in more square footage—it's in creating more opportunities for our community. 💜
