🩸 As we transition out of Menstrual Health Month, we continue breaking the silence around menstrual health and the barriers too many people face.

Menstrual hygiene is not a luxury. It is a basic health need. Yet millions of people in the U.S. — including right here in Greater Cleveland — struggle to access the products they need every month.

Period poverty affects education, work, health, and dignity. When someone can't afford period products, they miss class, work and other opportunities.

Periods are normal. Access to period products should be too.

Many of the families we serve include veterans, caregivers, and parents working hard to provide for their children. The need for diapers, period products, and hygiene supplies doesn't take a holiday — and neither does our mission.

📦 Nearly half of all U.S. households with children under age 4 report diaper insecurity. Let that sink in.

Diaper need doesn't just affect babies — it affects the entire family. Research shows that parents without a college degree are significantly more likely to experience diaper insecurity. And when families can't afford diapers, children can't attend child care. When children can't attend child care, parents can't go to class or work.

It's a cycle — and access to diapers is how you break it.

At the Diaper Bank of Greater Cleveland, we believe that every family deserves the dignity of having what they need. Because when parents have the support they need, they can keep moving forward — for themselves and for their children.

We are incredibly grateful for our Program Coordinator, Kris, who first joined the Diaper Bank of Greater Cleveland as a volunteer nearly three years ago and officially stepped into her role as Program Coordinator in January of this year. Since then, she has played an important role in overseeing our programs and welcoming and supporting new volunteers. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to our mission have made a meaningful impact on both our team and the families we serve. We are thankful for the passion and care she brings to our organization each day.

🩸 This is Period Poverty Awareness Week — and the numbers demand our attention.

According to the Alliance for Period Supplies, roughly 2 in 5 people who menstruate (40%) in the U.S. struggle to afford period products. And for teens, it's even more stark: State of the Period 2025 reports that 1 in 4 teens can't afford products — and 1 in 3 have missed class because of it.

This isn't just a financial issue. It's an education issue, a health issue, and a dignity issue.

Right here in Greater Cleveland, we're working to change that. Thanks to incredible volunteers like the Girls Assembly of the Amaranth Grand Chapter, we've distributed 14,000 period products since January 2026 — and we're just getting started.
