Healthy trees start with understanding how they grow—and planting them properly. Join Heights Tree People and International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Chris Vild for a hands-on introduction to tree biology and proper tree planting.

After learning the basics of how trees grow and function, participants will head outside to plant a tree and learn essential techniques for planting, mulching, and staking trees correctly.

This workshop is ideal for homeowners, gardeners, and anyone interested in helping trees thrive in our community. Learn practical skills you can use to give newly planted trees the healthy start they need.

Registration through Heights Libraries will open two weeks before the event date; they can be found online at https://bit.ly/4xiKRfT. We hope you’ll join us, learn something new about trees, and become part of the growing culture of tree stewardship in our community!

Want to learn how to identify the trees around you? Join Heights Tree People and International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Keith Geary for an introduction to identifying common trees in Northeast Ohio.

Learn how characteristics including leaves, bark, branches, flowers, and fruit can help you recognize different tree species. After a short indoor presentation, participants will head outside to the Peace Park Mini-Forest to put their new skills to the test using tree identification keys and field guides.

Whether you're a curious beginner, nature lover, or aspiring tree steward, this hands-on workshop will help you see—and understand—the trees in your community in a whole new way.

It turned out to be a great day to walk in the University Heights Memorial Day parade! We were thanked by folks who have received trees, found many more who want trees, and met a few who want to volunteer! Plus: how fun is it to take a walk surrounded by a brass band, dancers, fire trucks, and SpongeBob?

Communities that plant trees together take root and grow together! Experienced tree stewards pair with first-time planters. Strangers become fast friends. And people get to walk in a park and look at trees that their hands put into the soil.

Have we mentioned that we LOVE LOVE LOVE our volunteer planting days?

Wanna see what we did? Take a walk through Cumberland Park and think about how amazing this will be to watch grow over the next ten, twenty, thirty years, as we get older, our kids and grandkids grow up, and the world changes (hopefully for the better).

We plant trees as an act of love. Of hope. Of belief that we can make the future better.
