These families have been searching for their loved ones:

(Georgia) Derek Samuel, 20, has been missing since April 29. His family says surveillance shows him leaving Target in East Point, seemingly disappearing. Today marks a month since he vanished. His phone was located in a wooded area across the street from Target.

(Georgia) Malik Polk, 25, hasn’t been seen since May 17. He was last seen driving in the Whitesburg area before his vehicle was discovered abandoned. His mother, Sharita Hampton, says her son was last seen in a heavily wooded location near Shiloh Church Road and Highway 5. Hampton also said friends and family have organized searches in the area.

(New Jersey) Mortimer Wortman, a 22-year-old Rutgers University student, has been missing since November 21. He was seen getting into a car on surveillance at the Regional Day School in Jackson, New Jersey. The person he was last seen with says they got into a heated argument, and Mortimer walked off into the woods. This same person was arrested months prior for threatening Mortimer and carving the word “slut” on the side of his car. Police have still not named him a suspect in Mortimer’s disappearance.

(Washington) Jahkobi Hale, 21, walked into the mountains in Darrington, never to be seen again. He only had a raincoat, machete, and flashlight. Seventy-five volunteers searched the area, but the sheriff’s office said there has been no sign of Hale.

A Cleveland couple, dedicated to preventing violence, is mourning the death of their 21-year-old grandson who was murdered in Akron over the weekend.

$5,000 reward offered in weekend murder on Winton Avenue, in Akron, Ohio.

Nathan Hubbard, a father of two small children, was shot inside a vehicle on Winton Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026. He was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where he died.

Anyone with information on Hubbard's murder is encouraged to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2TIP.

Gun violence survivors and advocates are in Springfield today pushing the RIFL Act, which organizers say would make Illinois the first state to hold gun manufacturers financially responsible for violence caused by their weapons, while also funding resources for survivors and community violence intervention.

Groups including March For Our Lives and the RIFL Act Coalition are gathering at the Illinois State Capitol to urge lawmakers to advance the proposal, backed by UChicago Medicine surgeon Dr. Anthony Douglas.
