**TEAMWORK**
Tuesday afternoon, the Clarksville Fire Department Hazmat Team was requested to assist the New Albany Fire Department with a hazardous materials incident at a local food production facility.
Crews responded after employees began experiencing symptoms consistent with a possible gas exposure. The building was evacuated, multiple employees were evaluated, and several were transported to the hospital. Firefighters worked to identify the source of the problem, control the hazard, and ensure conditions inside the facility were safe.
Incidents like this are a great example of why cooperation between departments and agencies is so important.
Emergencies don't stop at city, town, or county lines. When a large or specialized incident occurs, having neighboring agencies that can provide additional personnel, equipment, knowledge, and specialized resources can make all the difference.
That's also why we train together.
Training alongside our neighboring departments and emergency management partners allows us to become familiar with each other's personnel, equipment, capabilities, and procedures before an emergency happens. When the call comes in, it shouldn't be the first time we're figuring out how to work together. The relationships and experience built during training allow multiple agencies to come together and operate as one team when our communities need us most.
We are proud of the members of the Clarksville Fire Department Hazmat Team who responded Tuesday and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the New Albany Fire Department and our regional partners.
A special thank you to **Floyd County Emergency Management Agency and Clark County Emergency Management Agency** for their assistance and continued partnership. Incidents like this truly demonstrate the value of agencies across county lines working together toward the same goal.
**Different departments. Different counties. One mission — protecting the people we serve.**
Great work by everyone involved.
