Inola Initiative Petition Case
September 5, 2026 | Buffer News
A hearing has been scheduled in the legal case involving the Inola citizen initiative petition.
DATE: Friday, October 2, 2026
TIME: 1:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Rogers County Courthouse
200 S. Lynn Riggs Blvd.
Claremore, Oklahoma
CASE: Stonebarger v. Unnamed Deputy Town Clerk of Inola
Case No. CV-2026-160
Judge: Sue Nigh
The hearing concerns two pending Motions to Intervene.
One was filed by Melissa Power, Century Aluminum Company, and Aluminum Oklahoma LLC d/b/a Oklahoma Primary Aluminum LLC.
The second was filed by Allie Bynum, Trent Bynum, and the City of Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority.
Judge Nigh ordered both motions to be heard October 2 at 1:30 p.m. (Order Setting Hearing, p. 1)
These motions concern whether those parties will be permitted to formally enter the initiative-petition litigation. The order schedules a hearing on the motions; it does not grant them.
Members of the public concerned about the Inola initiative petition and proposed aluminum smelter may want to attend the hearing and observe the proceedings. Those wishing to peacefully demonstrate outside the courthouse should follow courthouse rules and applicable laws.
Mark your calendar: October 2 at 1:30 p.m.
