π§π§ Mother Nature definitely showed up for the annual Claremore Veterans Fish Fry last Saturday at the Claremore Veterans Center! π§π§
The rain poured down all day long, and at times, the volunteers were literally standing in water while preparing the meal. But if you looked around, what you saw was truly special - smiles on every face, positive attitudes, and a team of dedicated volunteers who never once complained. They knew exactly why they were there.
A huge thank you to all the incredible volunteers and groups who braved the weather to make this event a success:
β’ The Claremore Police Department
β’ Broken Arrow Elks Lodge 2673
β’ PSP James Byle and Gary Hargrove from Lindsay Elks Lodge (Who brought frog legs and shrimp that were a huge hit - several veterans said they hadn't had frog legs in over 20 years!)
β’ TAL Mohawk Post 308 Tulsa
β’ Claremore Elk Riders #1230
β’ The Gordon, Angle & Favor team
β’ Oklahoma Disabled American Veterans Chapter 44, Claremore, OK
.. and everyone else who showed up, worked hard and refused to let the weather slow them down.
Together, the volunteers served up fish, hush puppies, french fries, coleslaw, shrimp and frog legs for the incredible veterans who have sacrificed so much for all of us.
Watching the veterans enjoy the meal was a humbling reminder that sometimes the smallest acts of service mean the most. The Claremore Elks Lodge #1230 is truly privileged to help give back, even in a small way, to the men and women who have given everything for our country.
The rain may have soaked everyone, but it never dampened their spirits. That day was a beautiful reminder that service isn't about convenience - it's about showing up, no matter the circumstances.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible. It was wet, muddy, exhausting... and absolutely worth every minute.
To our veterans: Thank you for your service. It was an honor and a privilege to serve you last Saturday. π«‘
Already looking forward to next year!
