The Character Council agrees! We have always believed that building community in the classroom significantly reduces bullying and empowers the bystanders.

🧡 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 🧡

This 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 reminds us of something powerful: when students feel safe, valued, and supported, transformation can happen. 🌱

What began as a journey to improve school culture has become a story of hope and transformation. Bravery, Empathy, Accountability, Respect, and Service have become the heart of P.S. 34, teaching students that true bravery includes having the courage to stand up for others.
Through an unwavering commitment to every child, the school has created a place where students feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.

Sometimes the most powerful way to prevent bullying is to build the kind of culture where it struggles to take root. That kind of culture doesn’t happen by chance. It is built intentionally, through the experiences, relationships, and expectations students encounter every day. 🧡

Parent Tip: Be an Empathy Coach
Empathy starts with noticing how others feel.
Name the Feeling: "How do you think that person feels?"
Watch the Body: "What does their body language tell you?
Look for the Why: "Why might they feel that way?"
Read the Face: "Look at their face together and identify emotional clues."
Listen Beyond Words: "How does that voice sound?"
