Click the link below to learn more about volunteer opportunities. https://wassonway.org/get-involved-2/ Did you know there are 7-miles of unused railroad right-of-way running through some of the most popular parks, residential and shopping areas in Cincinnati...? The tracks have been removed and construction is underway! It will be over 6-miles long by the end of 2022, spanning the nine neighborho
ods of Avondale, Walnut Hills, Evanston, Norwood, Hyde Park, Oakley, Mt Lookout, Fairfax, and Mariemont. The trail begins near MLK and Reading, the second largest employment district in the region. It includes many hospitals, EPA Center, the new NIOSH complex, UC Innovation Center and many office buildings under construction. It ends at the beginning of the 78-mile Little Miami Bike Trail, which is part of the 300-mile Erie to Ohio River Trail . The trail will be very popular and busy! Besides passing through nine neighborhoods it connects to numerous parks, schools and businesses: Blair Park, Walnut Hills High School,Kings Record Museum, Xavier University, University Station, School Outfitters Park, Withrow High School, Rookwood Pavilion, Hyde Park Plaza and the beautiful backwoods of Ault Park. There are efforts underway to connect to the University of Cincinnati which is only 1/2-mile away from the western end of the Wasson Way. The trail is the backbone of the 34-mile long Crown network of trails, a beautiful series of trails that will include Armleder Park, Lunken Airport trails and Ohio River Way, which will overlook the Ohio River Valley as it enters the downtown. We are a group of volunteers supporting the transformation of this right-of-way into a bike and pedestrian path. We hope you will join our efforts! The first step you can take towards supporting us is by becoming our Facebook fan! We will be updating the page regularly to let you know other ways you can show your support to make this a reality. We would like to have as much public involvement as possible, at all stages of the project!
