Kenzie’s CLOSET® was named after Makena "Kenzie" Comisar, a St. Kenzie was known for her big heart and generosity.

Kenzie’s CLOSET® is a unique non-profit organization in Cincinnati, Ohio that fulfills dreams for young high school girls who are unable to attend their school prom due to financial limitations. Economically disadvantaged girls from schools throughout Greater Cincinnati who are referred to Kenzie’s CLOSET® by a principal, counselor or social service agency can schedule an appointment to "shop" for the dress of their dreams at the Kenzie’s CLOSET® boutique — all free of charge. This once-in-a-lifetime dream-come-true happens each year thanks to the efforts of many passionate volunteers; the many generous donations of gently used prom, cocktail, bridesmaid and wedding dresses and accessories; the important donations of financial resources; the in-kind service donations by Kenzie’s CLOSET® partners; and an outpouring of kindness from the Greater Cincinnati community at large. WHAT A NIGHT! Thank you to everyone who celebrated Kenzie’s Closet Kickoff Party! It was a fabulous night celebrating our mission, our community and our dedicated and generous supporters and volunteers.

Almost 100 guests joined us to tour the boutique, learn about our mission, meet some of our amazing student and staff representatives from DePaul Cristo Rey High School DePaul Cristo Rey High School and enjoy a beautiful evening of friendship and community.

A sincere thank you to all of the wonderful people who made this a great start to another season. Stay tuned-We have so much fun planned this year!

What an amazing sale on Saturday! Thank you for joining us, your continued support and spreading the word. So many bargains were found for homecoming dances, vacations, church events, galas and more.

We loved meeting everyone and helping you find a fun dress or accessory. All proceeds raised goes directly back into our mission to buy prom dresses for our next season.

Thank you to the volunteers that help keep us organized and make this sale possible. We couldn’t do it without you! Stay tuned for future sales of gently used designer dresses, shoes, and accessories.

As we start our new season, our Board of Directors is thrilled to announce Heather Batdorf as Kenzie’s Closet’s Executive Director.

Heather has served as our Community Engagement Manager for five years and has grown our relationships with schools, donors, volunteers, and the Cincinnati community beyond belief. She does all of this with grace, loyalty and respect for our organization, our community and the young women we serve. Heather‘s dedication to our mission is truly unmatched.

As we continue to celebrate 20 years of Kenzie’s Closet, we are fortunate to have Heather as our leader. Please join me in congratulating Heather for this well- earned promotion.

Some moments remind us exactly why we do what we do. 💗

We recently received the most touching note from Aiken High School after partnering with Kenzie’s Closet—and we’re still feeling all the emotions. 🥹

“There are no words to fully capture the magic you brought…”
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts…”
“You made a profound impact on their self-esteem…”

Over 20 young women were given not just prom dresses—but confidence, joy, and a moment to feel truly celebrated. ✨

And this part… we’ll never forget:
“Seeing you arrive on campus with a Jeep full of dreams for our students was a testament to the heart of Kenzie’s Closet.”

To Heather and the entire team—this is what it’s all about. Turning what could be a stressful time into something beautiful, empowering, and unforgettable.

Happy Volunteer Month ! We love our volunteers and try to celebrate and appreciate them all year. They truly are the heartbeat of the work we do at Kenzie’s Closet. 🩷

This year, we are happy to offer our dedicated volunteers free parking while they are working hard to make prom dreams come true. Thank you to Dan & George for listening to our needs and allowing us to offer this generous benefit to our team.

Your kindness is truly appreciated by all of our volunteers. Our community continues to show up for Kenzie’s Closet in big and small ways every single day. Together, we are making real impact in the lives of so many deserving young women. Thank you!

Always smiling, always ready for a little fun (especially if it involves tennis 🎾), and incredibly talented behind the scenes—Susan has been a dedicated volunteer seamstress with Kenzie’s Closet for years. And yes… she clearly has a special love for hemming those big, beautiful dresses. ✨

Season after season, on every single shopping day, Susan shows up with her kindness, her skill, and her unwavering commitment to making each girl feel perfect in her dress.
