In Ohio last year 33% of those homeless were under the age of 25 and 23% were under the age of 18 years old! With Father’s Day around the corner SMAC wanted to share the importance of having father’s in the home!

Having a father figure in a young man's life is incredibly important, as they provide guidance, support, and encouragement as they navigate the world around them. This support is particularly essential for young men facing difficult circumstances, such as homelessness, as it can provide them with a sense of stability and a role model to look up to.

When fathers are absent from the home, young men can struggle with feelings of abandonment and isolation, which can have a significant impact on their mental and emotional wellbeing. Research has also shown that young men without fathers are more likely to become involved in criminal activity, struggle with substance abuse, and experience difficulty in relationships.

On the other hand, young men who have a strong relationship with their fathers – whether they live in the same home or not – are more likely to have higher levels of self-confidence, better mental health, and stronger relationships with others. This is because fathers provide a level of emotional and physical support that is unique and invaluable to their sons.

In conclusion, having a father figure in a young man's life is crucial for their growth and development, especially for those facing challenging life circumstances. By prioritizing and nurturing these relationships, we can help provide young men with the support and guidance they need to thrive.

SMAC is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to providing housing and support for homeless individuals. Their mission is to help these people get back on their feet and become self-sufficient members of society again.

Being homeless can be incredibly dangerous, particularly during the summer months. Extreme heat can cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke. Homeless individuals are also more susceptible to illness and disease due to living in unsanitary and crowded conditions. On top of that, they face the daily challenge of finding food and water, and are often the targets of violence and theft.

SMAC's work in providing housing and support services to homeless individuals is incredibly important, especially during the summer when the dangers faced by the homeless are even more severe. Through their efforts, SMAC is helping to make a positive impact in the lives of those who are most vulnerable in our communities.

Did you know that many young adults in low-income communities across the United States are at risk of gun violence? Those who are homeless or living on the streets are particularly vulnerable.

Unfortunately, access to guns is all too common in many of these neighborhoods, and young people may feel that carrying a weapon is their only way to stay safe in a dangerous environment.

But carrying a gun can actually increase the risk of violence. That's why it's important for community leaders and policymakers to work together to address the root causes of gun violence in these communities and provide effective solutions.

By providing safe housing, education and job opportunities, and community support programs, we can help young adults in these neighborhoods build a brighter future - one that's free from the threat of gun violence.

Remember, we all have a role to play in creating safer communities. Let's work together to make a difference.
