In Ohio last year 33% of those homeless were under the age of 25 and 23% were under the age of 18 years old! With Father’s Day around the corner SMAC wanted to share the importance of having father’s in the home!
Having a father figure in a young man's life is incredibly important, as they provide guidance, support, and encouragement as they navigate the world around them. This support is particularly essential for young men facing difficult circumstances, such as homelessness, as it can provide them with a sense of stability and a role model to look up to.
When fathers are absent from the home, young men can struggle with feelings of abandonment and isolation, which can have a significant impact on their mental and emotional wellbeing. Research has also shown that young men without fathers are more likely to become involved in criminal activity, struggle with substance abuse, and experience difficulty in relationships.
On the other hand, young men who have a strong relationship with their fathers – whether they live in the same home or not – are more likely to have higher levels of self-confidence, better mental health, and stronger relationships with others. This is because fathers provide a level of emotional and physical support that is unique and invaluable to their sons.
In conclusion, having a father figure in a young man's life is crucial for their growth and development, especially for those facing challenging life circumstances. By prioritizing and nurturing these relationships, we can help provide young men with the support and guidance they need to thrive.
