🚀 HITEC Scholar Spotlight 🚀

HITEC Foundation scholar Camilo is a great example of perseverance. Pursuing a higher education comes with many challenges, and although many scholars have faced bumps on the road to graduation, Camilo has not let those bumps slow him down.

Camilo has been named the Community Advisor and PE and Wellness Coordinator for the Opportunities Summer Program at Hamilton College, where he is now working with the Hamilton Alumni Association as an assistant to the program director.

"I am happy to say that I had an excellent experience with Mr. William Torrealba, the Senior Leader in Solutions Architecture at Amazon." - Camilo Pinto Gonzalez

We look forward to hearing more from Camilo and will continue to support our HITEC Foundation scholars on their journeys.

Last week, during HITEC's Regional event, hosted by IBM in Austin, Texas, HITEC Foundation scholar Val Tamez met with his mentor, Francisco Ortego, in person!

"I had the pleasure of being Francisco’s mentee for the Fall 2025 to Spring 2026 semester. I could tell right away that Francisco is a genuine person who cared about me as a mentee...

I can confidently say that our mentor relationship helped me grow in more ways than I imagined, and I hope it had the same impact on him as it did on me. I look forward to staying in touch with him in the future and I am thankful to HITEC for introducing me to someone who could holistically benefit me as both a person and a professional." - Val Tamez

It's always a joy to be able to connect scholars with great support and mentors with a connection to the future of the tech industry. We look forward to hearing more about their story and connecting future scholars to industry professionals.

🚀 HITEC Scholar Spotlight 🚀

Our Scholars are building momentum and Alexander’s sophomore year is a powerful example of what dedication, mentorship, and opportunity can unlock.
From staying on track for the Dean’s List every semester to earning a research grant, completing the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate, and working toward CompTIA Security+, Alexander is making the most of every opportunity. He’s also an entrepreneur—founding PropFlow, a startup using AI to automate ESG compliance for real estate, and advancing through Penn State’s competitive Nittany AI Challenge.

A key part of his journey has been the HITEC Foundation Mentorship Program and his mentor, Reynaldo Gonzalez, whose guidance and support have helped Alexander navigate big goals and bold ideas.

“I meet with my HITEC mentor every three weeks—he’s outstanding and has given me great advice.”
— Alexander Taylor, Sophomore, Penn State

This summer, Alexander begins a one-year Co-Op as a Platform Engineer Intern at IBM, while continuing to grow his startup and expand his professional network.

We’re proud to support Scholars like Alexander as they lead, innovate, and shape the future of tech. 💙

HITEC Foundation leaders kicked off 2026 events last week during HITEC's Regional event, hosted by SAP in New York!

The regional event explored how AI, leadership, and innovation are reshaping the future of work and business. From each session, we saw how AI has evolved from being a tool, into a leadership capability.

A special thank you to HITEC Foundation Board Chair, Marcelo De Santis, for moderating the panel "𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧” which explored how AI is reshaping work, careers, and the leadership capabilities required for this next era. Panelists shared that judgement, curiosity, adaptability, and relationship-building are human skills that technology can’t replace.

We enjoyed the opportunity to connect with volunteers from the HITEC Foundation and the amazing community of arcHITECts of growth! Thank you to SAP for hosting the event!

Amazon is a next generation champion! Thank you to Amazon Web Services for their incredible support of the HITEC Foundation and their continued commitment to creating pathways into technology careers. Through this partnership, Amazon is expanding opportunity not only for HITEC Scholars, but also for students from Cristo Rey Miami High School, helping build awareness, access, and exposure to the wide range of roles across the tech ecosystem.

This work aligns strongly with Amazon’s broader corporate social responsibility and workforce development efforts, which focus on education, skills training, and preparing students and early‑career talent for in‑demand technology roles. We’re grateful to partner with an organization that is investing in the future workforce and helping students see what’s possible.

Our HITEC Scholars continue to do incredible things—and this semester is a perfect example of what’s possible with community, mentorship, and support.
Greta is thriving academically with straight As, engaging in cutting-edge research, and preparing for an exciting summer ahead—including international research in the Mediterranean, global conferences, and work on PhD applications.

A pivotal part of her journey? The HITEC Foundation Mentorship Program and the guidance of her mentor, Pamela Compton, who has helped Greta stay focused on her career, prioritize healthy work-life balance, and confidently navigate major academic pivots.

“The last semester has been the best one yet. Thanks, HITEC Foundation, for the support!” — Greta, M.S. Student in Mechatronics & Robotics, NYU Tandon School of Engineering

We’re so proud to support Scholars like Greta as they build bold, global futures in technology. 💙
