Sometimes the data just confirms what those of us working in this area already know. The increase in homelessness in Chicago poses challenges not just for the individuals struggling with housing insecurity, but for the entire social services infrastructure in the Chicago area- including legal services. GCLC's Homelessness Advice and Representation Program (HARP) has worked with our community partners to meet the increasing demand for legal counsel and advocacy, and we will continue to do so for as long as this crisis confronts our city.
The city’s annual point-in-time count showed nearly 19,000 people were unhoused on a single night in January.
