Illinois Medicaid is privatized. We could save an estimated 1 BILLION dollars a year, by removing private insurers. As we work toward making everyone eligible for Medicare (Medicare for All) we also need to remove private insurers from public health insurance programs.

Deprivatization “could save Ohioans between $450 and $850 million a year...simplify the system, [and] increase participation from doctors who don't currently accept Medicaid.”

The same holds true for every other state that contracts with corporate health insurers to administer Medicaid benefits, which is the vast majority of states.
