Why I Run 26.2 for Team CPMF: "To me the Chicago Marathon is more than just another race; it's my chance to run with a purpose. As a Boston Police Officer, I am proud to support the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and help pay tribute to the brave officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. I am proud to run for a foundation that also continues to support the families and loved ones who live with that loss every day. Law enforcement is not a job, it’s a family. Why I Run 26.2 for Team CPMF: "My name is Officer Edwin Carrillo with the Chicago Police Department. I am honored to be running the 2026 Chicago Marathon for the second consecutive year. I run for team CPMF in tribute to our fallen brothers and sisters in blue.
This year’s run holds a deeply personal meaning. In 2025, I lost two of my academy classmates—one to su***de and one who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. My brother serves as a police officer, and my dad proudly retired after a career in law enforcement. Growing up, I saw firsthand the sacrifice, commitment, and courage that come with wearing the badge. Running the Chicago Marathon with the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is my way of honoring their service and giving back to the officers and families who have given so much.
