🍎 It’s Farmers Market Wednesday in Ravenswood!

The weather is looking beautiful, so it’s the perfect afternoon to stroll over to the Ravenswood Community Farmers Market and shop local.

Stop by today, Wednesday, October 7, from 3:30–7:30 PM at 4900 N. Damen and pick up a little something for dinner, dessert, or just because. You’ll find local favorites including Patyk Farms, Hilary’s Cookies, Cafe Tola, Tamales Express, Laimoon, Bartleby’s Ice Cream, Local Pastures, Share Happiness, Wilco’s Tasty Treats, and Irene’s.

Fresh produce, delicious food, sweet treats, and a chance to support the small businesses and makers that help make our neighborhood feel like home. 🍏🥕🍪

Come hungry, bring a tote bag, and enjoy a beautiful October afternoon in Ravenswood.

🥫Our First Fridays Food Drive starts TODAY—and we need Ravenswood’s help this week! 🥫

Ravenswood Neighbors Association is kicking off our October food drive today, Friday, October 2, and collecting donations through Thursday, October 8, 2026.

This week’s drive feels especially urgent after members of our RNA board volunteered together on Tuesday and helped serve more than 1,100 people in our community. Seeing that level of need firsthand was a powerful reminder that every bag, box, and donated item can make an immediate difference for a neighbor.

If you’re able, please donate this week. Pick up an extra pantry staple on your next grocery trip, gather a few personal care items, and bring them to one of our drop-off locations. Even a small contribution can help make sure a neighbor has something nourishing to eat or an essential item to get through the week.

Ravenswood Neighbors, if you’ve been thinking about going to The Spirits of Ravenswood, now’s a good time to grab your ticket because prices go up after September 30.

Join on Thursday, October 16 at the Ravenswood Event Center for a fun Halloween night with local b**r and spirits, a costume contest, games, prizes, tarot readings, and more.

You definitely don’t have to go all-out with a costume either. Come dressed up, keep it simple, or just add something festive and join the party.

Best of all, the evening helps support Ravenswood Community Services’ Food Pantry and Community Kitchen, so your night out is helping neighbors in our community too.

Tickets are $125 through September 30 and go up to $150 after that, so if you’re planning to come, don’t wait too long.

Join the Ravenswood Neighbors Association for a Coffee Chat with Chicago Board of Education member Karen Zaccor, District 4A. CPS currently lists Zaccor as the representative for District 4A. (Chicago Public Schools)

With Chicago voters choosing the full Board of Education this November, this is an opportunity to learn more about what Board members do, what voters should know before Election Day, and how issues including technology, screens, and AI are shaping conversations around education.

CHICAGO’S SCHOOL BOARD IS CHANGING. ARE YOU READY TO VOTE?

This November marks a major change for Chicago: for the first time, voters will elect the city’s full 21-member Board of Education.

So what exactly does a Board of Education member do? How do Board decisions affect Chicago Public Schools, students, families, and neighborhoods? And where can voters find reliable information before heading to the polls?

Are you interested in contributing your time and talents to making our neighborhood a great place to live? Apply to join the Ravenswood Neighbors Association’s Advisory Board!

Applications for the 2026-2028 term are due by 5PM CDT Friday, October 16. Upon receipt of an application, RNA leadership will confirm eligibility and contact you to discuss the position. Ultimately, a candidate must be nominated by a current RNA board member for consideration and a vote.

All members who agree to serve on the Advisory Board must commit to a two-year term and agree to the following expectations prior to nomination and election:

> Become a dues-paying member in good standing.
> Participate actively on at least one committee.

It was a pleasure to join the Friends of Winnslie Parkway earlier today to celebrate the official opening ceremony of the Winnslie Parkway expansion between Lawrence and Ainslie!

Now, the entire stretch of the Ravenswood Ave. railroad embankment from Lawrence to Winnemac includes an off-street walking path, native plants, and places to sit and enjoy the outdoors. If you haven't already, go check it out!

The improvements greatly benefit our neighborhood, and we're so grateful to Friends of Winnslie Parkway and all of the partners who helped make this happen, including Alderman Matt Martin - 47th Ward, Senator Mike Simmons, City of Chicago Department of Planning & Development, Chicago Department of Transportation, and Neighbor-Space.
