Yesterday reminded me of something important: success is not always measured by the number of people in the room.

Only one amazing Spirit showed up for our four-hour Upholstery for Healing Workshop but that did not make the workshop a failure. It created space for one youth worker to be seen, heard and supported. One person had the opportunity to slow down, reflect and safely release some of the emotional weight that comes with helping young people navigate trauma.

We often celebrate the crowd, but transformation can happen one person at a time. One honest conversation can change how someone serves. One safe space can help someone breathe again. One restored person can return to their work and positively impact many young lives.

So yes, the room was small, but the purpose was still big. The work was meaningful. The connection was real. The workshop was a success.

I am learning not to despise small beginnings.

Luke 16:10: States that whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.

Sometimes the greatest impact begins with the one person who was meant to be in the room.

Can I say that our Village and Partners are so Dope!!! It was such an honor to have worked with Butterfly Dreamz on this project. For two days we transformed their garage into a space worthy of praise. During this process we celebrated our individual creativity, our sisterhood and our community. Yes Ya'll we did that!!

I am super duper honored to be the first organization to host a workshop out of this beautiful space, the vibe alone will bring peace and a sense of healing. Thank you for loving on Teena's Legacy, we really appreciate you all.

From November 2025 through March 2026, I had the honor of facilitating a pilot from my 16-week curriculum, Reupholster with a Purpose.

What started as a 4-week pilot slowly became an 8-week journey and baby, it was truly a process. We had some ups, some downs, some stretching moments, and some real learning along the way. But we stayed committed, we kept showing up, and we made it through to the end.

This experience taught me so much as a facilitator, a leader, and a woman walking fully in my purpose. It also reminded me that transformation does not always happen on our timeline. Sometimes the process needs more space, more grace, and more time to unfold.

I am so proud of the women who participated. They stripped, reflected, rebuilt, and discovered more about themselves through the work of their hands. Each chair told a story and so did each woman.

Reupholster with a Purpose is more than upholstery. It is healing. It is restoration. It is growth. It is learning how to take what has been worn, torn, overlooked, or forgotten and give it new life.

I am grateful for every lesson, every challenge, and every breakthrough this pilot brought forward. We made it through, and we gained so much along the way.

My method is Reupholster with a Purpose.

At Teena’s Legacy, every chair becomes more than a project, it becomes a lesson in healing, rebuilding, and becoming.

Through the process of stripping away old layers, restoring what remains, and rebuilding with intention, we are reminded that transformation is possible for furniture, for people, and for communities.

This work is about more than upholstery.
It is about reflection.
It is about renewal.
It is about discovering that even after life’s wear and tear, there is still beauty, strength, and purpose within us.

For me, upholstery is more than fabric, staples, and furniture.

It is a tool for healing.

When I strip a chair, I think about the layers we carry. When I rebuild it, I think about the strength we still have. When I restore it, I’m reminded that beauty can still come from what has been worn, stretched, or overlooked.

Through Teena’s Legacy, I use upholstery to help people reflect, release, rebuild, and see themselves in a new way.

When I say my assignment is restoration, I’m not just talking about furniture.

I’m talking about the process of seeing value in what others may overlook. A chair can be stripped, rebuilt, and transformed — and so can we.

That is the heart behind Teena’s Legacy and Reupholster with a Purpose.

This work is about reminding people that their story is not over. There is still beauty, purpose, and strength underneath the layers.
