Black Bartow Events is excited to highlight Adairsville High School’s Student Government Association as participants in the 5th Annual Black History Parade!

This year is extra special! It marks the very first time Adairsville High School is represented in our parade. Even more meaningful, the SGA will be walking alongside newly elected African American Adairsville City Councilman, James Pullum and his wife, Debbie Pullum. Their presence reflects a powerful moment of leadership, progress, and community pride within Bartow County.

We are honored to have these young leaders joining us as we celebrate history, culture, and the bright future ahead. 🖤💛

We were blessed to have Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant as our speaker for this year's Freedom Fund Banquet. We would like to say thank you to him for doing an amazing job!

Dr. Bryant embodies the rare balance of spiritual gifts and practical educational experiences that connects pastoral leadership and discipleship teaching with prophetic preaching and courageous social action. Dr. Bryant is equipped and poised to initiate theological revival, decisive commitment and rededication to the teachings of Jesus the Christ as the foundation for personal living, family stability and community development.

Dr. Bryant is not only known as a riveting speaker but has earned a reputation as a social justice activist. Prior to pastoring, he served as the national youth and college director of the NAACP for six years, leading about 70,000 young people worldwide on non-violent campaigns.

Dr. Bryant earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Morehouse College and a Masters of Divinity from Duke University. He studied at Oxford University in Great Britain and earned a doctorate from The Graduate Theological Foundation.

Congratulations to Terry Reid Automotive Group

They are a family owned and operated dealership serving Georgia including North Atlanta, Marietta, Kennesaw, Rome and surrounding areas, and are located in historic Cartersville.

As pioneers in the automotive internet process, Terry Reid recognized that the internet would eventually level the playing field in pricing and negotiation for consumers in the early 1990's. He recognized the powerful tools and negotiating power the internet would give consumers, allowing them to make a more educated decision car buying. So, their family rethought their future and the strategic alliance to this consumer driven method, and relocated their dealerships to areas just outside metro areas like Atlanta to find a way to bring savings to our customers.

The metro business model is broken and flawed today. It is not sustainable. Metro dealers costs are so high, they can't deliver the savings that they would like to. This can and cause frustration at the point of sale and delivery. All vehicles cost the same, but overhead and expenses don't have to.

This is why we have built their stores in outer lying metro markets like Cartersville, so their expenses are much lower than metro dealers. This allows them to give customers the best possible price.

Try them, you'll like them. They're not just the best price, they're the best choice.

Congratulations Deputy Chief Terry Ellis

Service is who he is and what he does. Terry Ellis, a quintessential professional, grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, where he learned the definition of contribution early on. His shared passion for service and people prompted him to join the military. Riding the wave of patriotism, with great gratitude, he served this country well. This Navy veteran and Morehouse man has protected and served the city of Cartersville with honor and pride for 33 years in law enforcement.

He has demonstrated an exceptional ability to lead by exhibiting humility, empowering others, and presenting himself as constant and consistent. His portfolio showcases a range of awards from Heart of Service, Brave and Honorable Service, Dependable and Dedicated Service, Distinguished Service Advancing the Respect for Law, to repeatedly awarded Officer of the Year. In 2015, Terry Ellis made history by becoming Cartersville’s first black Major, and again in 2022 becoming their first black Deputy Chief of Police. His career was defined, not by what he achieved but rather by that which he overcame.

This seasoned professional drives success in and out of uniform, developing partnerships within and outside the community. He is the Co-Founder of Youth Against Violence and Drugs. He's a trusted and respected board member of both Recovery Bartow and Bartow Diversity Group. He, too, is a Lifetime member of the NAACP.

He’s a proud member of The Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia, where he sits under the tutelage of Pastor Randy Livsey. Outside of work, Terry enjoys exploring new travel destinations, spending quality time with family and friends, and visiting SEC Stadiums.

He quietly resides in Cartersville with his wife, Tika and son Pierce Bklyn.
