Who invited La Catrina to Day of the Dead?

La Catrina was created in 1910 by Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada as “La Calavera Garbancera” - a satire of Mexicans who denied their roots to appear European. It was Diego Rivera in 1947 who named her “La Catrina” and made her famous in his mural.

Today, La Catrina and El Catrín remind us that death is democratic - rich or poor, we all become skulls. That’s why we dress as them for Día de los Mu***os.

Join us THIS SUNDAY OCT 25 in Cartersville, GA!

What happens when a school community comes together through music, movement, and culture? Big smiles, curious questions, and unforgettable connections! 💃🌎

Thank you, Taylorsville Elementary School, for welcoming Constanza Sweeney and Intercultural Fest™ to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Taylorsville, Georgia As a founder and community leader, sharing Latin American traditions with children is especially meaningful to me. Each dance step, thoughtful question, and joyful smile creates an opportunity to learn from one another and celebrate the cultures that shape our community.

Thank you to the TES teachers and staff for bringing culture into the classroom, and to the students for participating with such enthusiasm. We’re grateful to celebrate alongside our Bartow County school community. 💙

💬 What cultural tradition would you love to share with the next generation? Tell us in the comments!
