CWC held our June 2026 picnic at Cooper's Furnace Day Use Area at the Etowah River on Thursday.Beside the historic ruins of the old iron furnace built by Moses Stroup which became part of the Cooper's Iron Works in 1847 when Mark Anthony Cooper bought an interest in the furnace. While we shared a fun gathering with hot dogs, hamburgers, and an array of tasty dishes and desserts; we could also appreciate the natural beauty of the Cooper's Furnace Native Plant Meadow and Pollinator Garden. We had a great time!

STEM @ Your Library with Georgia Highlands College: CWC members volunteered at the Cartersville Library to assist GHC with science activities entitled UNEARTH A PLANT, where children made tabletop greenhouses and learned about capillary action, as well as the differences between plant and animal cells. We are honored to help our community’s students and to encourage higher learning in STEM.

Members and guests delighted in a Movie Night Under the Stars, a memorable Arts and Culture event. The evening featured the movie Remarkably Bright Creatures, comfortable seating, and a popcorn bar with plenty of toppings, along with delicious desserts and refreshments. Attendees had the opportunity to socialize before the screening and participate in a short discussion about the film’s themes afterward, making it an enriching and fun experience for all.

CWC is busy this weekend, starting Friday night with members volunteering at the monthly bingo fundraiser held by American Legion Post 245. It's an honor to partner with our local veterans in their efforts to support those in need in the community with coats for the winter, food for families, and so much more. Our volunteer time proves "KINDNESS CONNECTS US"

Several members came together to create more than 250 festive 4th of July pins for residents of local nursing homes, aiming to bring smiles and brighten their day. Members also handcrafted beautiful bookmarks embellished with dried flowers as special gifts for the residents.

On Friday morning CWC members once again partnered with members of Adairsville American Legion Post 245 and their wives to place flags on military gravesites. Each headstone marks the final resting place of a member of our armed forces who stepped up for his or her country and made the ultimate sacrifice. Memorial Day-May 25,2026.
