Morgan Park United Methodist Church celebrates Pride Month which commemorates the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion on June 28, 1969, which was the catalyst for the 20th century fight for LGBTQIA+ rights in our nation.

The event is presented by the Juneteenth Family Festival of Beverly/Morgan Park in collaboration with the 19th Ward Youth Foundation, Morgan Park Beverly Hills Business Associations, Beverly Arts Center, ADA Park Advisory Council, Morgan Park Presbyterian Church and the Morgan Park United Methodist Church.

Celebrate Freedom - Happy Juneteenth

On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to take over the state and ensure that all enslaved people were freed. Their arrival occurred two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth (short for June Nineteenth) was first organized one year after the end of slavery in the United States and was known as the “Jubilee Day.” Its celebration has grown across the country and was made into an official federal holiday in June 2021.
