Today, we're celebrating the birth anniversary of the amazing founder of Rotary International, Paul Harris, who was born on April 19, 1868, in Racine, Wisconsin, USA. What started out as a simple idea in 1905—to bring together professionals from all over the world through fellowship and service—has grown into a global movement. The he established in Chicago sowed the seeds of what is now a worldwide network of over a million dedicated individuals, united in their mission to create lasting change in their communities and beyond.

Let us celebrate the life and legacy of Paul Harris, whose dream continues to inspire .

February 23, 1905, is considered the birthday of Rotary International, when Paul Harris met in Chicago with three of his friends and business clients to form what became known as the Rotary Club. Today marks the 121st birthday of this wonderful service organization, which now reaches worldwide.

This medallion, a gift to the Paul & Jean Harris Home by Rotarian Wolfgang Ziegler, features a likeness of Paul Harris on the front, and on the reverse, a list of countries outside of the United States where Rotary expanded, starting with Canada in 1910.

When in Chicago, come visit the Home of Paul Harris and learn more about the early history of Rotary and the principles upon which it was founded.
