🎵 "It's too hot, it's too hot" 🎵 Hope y'all are still having a great Friday and staying cool! It is so close to being Fall, not surprised to see Chicago's weather gives us our last blast of heat until spooky season arrives 👻

Tom, our Education Manager, loves that challenge! He enjoys blistering them in the air fryer with a dash of salt. If you are a super, duper, cool person who follows our LFB newsletter, you will find an amazing recipe that utilizes these in a introductory way~

This week's produce has a lot of heat, thanks to Sol De Chicago Farm 🌞 ! 🌞

Habanero and Carmen Peppers 25 cents each
Onions 50 cents each

We’re always so thrilled to get to learn from Oscar of Oscar Villa! Oscar has been a longtime friend of ours, vending at our farmers markets, caring for our observational beehive, and stopping by to facilitate classes and workshops for our youth and families.

This summer, Oscar showed the teens how to make their very own dip candles with beautiful beeswax. This was the first time many of us learned about candle making, bee anatomy, and the benefits of local honey. 🍯

Muchas gracias Oscar por tu apoyo cada año! 🖤💛

Have you ever worked with beeswax before? If you’re curious what a beeswax candle smells like, you can purchase yours in La Tiendita or directly from Oscar and his wife Jess during our Farmer’s Markets!

to this month’s Back 2 School Mercado de Intercambio! 🎒📚

In partnership with Free Street Theater, we welcomed over 100 families and distributed 300 book bags with school supplies! So many lovely faces came by to learn about services offered by Mobile Migrant Health Team - Chicago, who generously distributed hundreds of care packages and more.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by! ➡️ swipe to see more pictures of the day ☀️

Vendors like viva la horchata got to meet neighbors and share their refreshing aguas frescas.

Bee-uTiful always finds a few customers. Having some of the most delicious local and seasonal honey, Jess regularly shares samples and accepts link, market vouchers, and senior coupons. 🍯

Every month, we host a cooking demo by a local chef who utilizes produce from our Local Food Box. 📦 have you ever had oatmeal with zucchini before? It was a real treat — thanks to Dulce from Cedillo's Fresh Produce for showing us her way of making this healthy breakfast!

This month was special as Free Street Theater also offered a showing of their Toca Tierra production! It’s a short story about what it takes to grow into a big strong tree and the different ways we can support our mama Earth.

The show featured an almost 14 ft tall tree puppet that community residents got to hug and show appreciation for 🌳💚
