On June 19th, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas with wonderful news. The Emancipation Proclamation had gone into effect, freeing all African Americans from chattel slavery. Though there are still hurdles we cross on our journey toward , represents the hope that keeps our pushing for progress.
