Cara Chicago Since 1991, Cara Collective has worked with people experiencing poverty to find and keep quality jobs.

Cara Collective seeks to fuel a courageous national movement to eradicate relational and financial poverty. Through our four entities – Cara, Cleanslate, Cara Connects, and Cara Plus –we engage job seekers, employers, and other organizations across the country to break the cycle of poverty through the power and purpose of employment. Since 1991, we’ve helped more than 8,100 people get placed into more than 13,400 jobs and get started on their path to real and lasting success.

On June 19th, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas with wonderful news. The Emancipation Proclamation had gone into effect, freeing all African Americans from chattel slavery. Though there are still hurdles we cross on our journey toward , represents the hope that keeps our pushing for progress.

This week, we were honored to host our friends from Civic Works (Baltimore, MD), Erie Neighborhood House (Chicago, IL), Samaritan Resource Center (Orlando, FL), United Against Poverty (FL), and Urban Alliance (Kalamazoo, MI). They joined Cara Plus for the latest cohort of our Workforce Development Solutions Lab. This immersive lab, led by Cara Collective staff, explored socio-emotional skills training, retention strategies, new partnership development, and so much more for our friends to take back to their organizations.
