CAICC is a network of seventeen Native American organizations and programs that joined together to collectively work on improving conditions for Native Americans in the Chicago area. Its inception was stirred by an overwhelming recognition that the community lacked cohesion, was virtually invisible in the City, and needed to develop a shared, comprehensive vision for improvement.

Eyes here!

Relatives, we were so looking forward to gathering with you tonight, but the weather has other plans.

Because of the threat of severe weather this evening, we are rescheduling Powwow at the Lake 2026 to next Thursday, June 18.

We did not make this decision lightly. We know dancers were getting ready, families were making plans, vendors and volunteers were preparing, and many of you were looking forward to being together by the lake. We also know a schedule change can be frustrating.

But our first responsibility is care. We want everyone to be able to travel safely, gather safely, dance safely and make it home safely.

So we’ll try again next week.

Updated event information:
Powwow at the Lake 2026
Thursday, June 18
Same location
Dancer registration opens at 4 p.m.
Dancer registration closes at 5:45 p.m.
Grand Entry is at 6 p.m.

Dancer registration is also reopening for one more week. If you know dancers who would like to join us, please share the registration listed in the linktree in our bio.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility and care for one another. We’re grateful for this community, and we’re excited to gather with you next Thursday.

Please help us spread the word.

Bring your people, visit the vendors, support the dancers, and spend a summer night with Native Chicago on the lakefront!

Powwow at the Lake is back for our third year.

There is something special about gathering by the water, and we are excited to bring Native singing, dancing, vendors, family, and community back to the lakefront.

Join the American Indian Center on Thursday, June 11, at Foster Beach for a summer evening with Native Chicago.

Grand Entry begins at 6 p.m., so plan to arrive early, visit the vendors, and find a place to sit. This is an outdoor event, so please bring your own chairs or blankets.

This event is free and open to everyone. You do not have to be Native to attend. Relatives, neighbors, friends, families, and respectful guests are all welcome.

We will have intertribal dances, spot dances, audience participation, Native vendors, and a closing Round Dance.

Dancers are invited to preregister. We are offering a $40 honorarium to the first 40 dancers who preregister and check in. More details are available in the sign-up form:
