Coalition of Limited English Speaking Elderly Coalition of Limited English Speaking Elderly (CLESE) is a non-profit membership coalition of ethnic, community based social service providers in Illinois.

The Coalition of Limited English Speaking Elderly (CLESE) was founded by leaders of ethnic organizations in 1989 as a result of a comprehensive ethnic elderly needs assessment conducted in the city of Chicago that examined the needs of immigrant, refugee and migrant older adults. The findings showed that language and cultural barriers prevent ethnic older adults from accessing services and program

s they need. CLESE builds critical partnerships and collaboration with various stakeholders in the community in order to promote well being and equal access to services for ethnic seniors.

Founded in 1989, the Coalition of Limited English Speaking Elderly (CLESE) builds collaborative partnerships to connect immigrant and refugee older adults with culturally appropriate home and community-based services. During their annual meeting, CLESE presented Director Paula Basta with their Champion of Older Adults Award for her leadership and dedication to serving older adults, including limited English-speaking elders.

This afternoon I welcomed representatives of the Coalition of Limited English Speaking Elderly, Metropolitan Asian Family Services, Inc., and the Xilin Association to my District Office. They are passionate about providing quality services to seniors in the 21st District.
