We Are the Vine.

There is sacred power in partnership. In the people who keep showing up, building bridges, holding space, sharing wisdom, and reminding us that healing has always been a communal practice. It my feel like nothing is really sacred anymore, but there are many of us who refuse to surrender what is truly ours. We refuse to let hate make us fearful, division make us distant, or inequity convince us that we have no power.

We will continue to gather and sew seeds in community. We will continue to shine the baton that we will pass on to the next generation.

I am excited to lift up the next episode of our partner .ewing.dreams beautiful show, where I am honored to be featured alongside the brilliant and Healer .

I love this show because it celebrates local talent, wisdom, and real people who are not simply doing work in Chicago, but who are residents, neighbors, culture-keepers, and living treasures of the city we love.

I also want to honor the incredible community partners who have helped keep conversations about Black and Brown healing alive, visible, and embedded within our hearts and minds for years:

Aya Cook of ; McDowell , author of Lifting as They Climbed; community healing partner and his partner/wife Ayanna ; podcaster and consultant Kim Casey ; community organizer Carolina Gaete of ; Organizer & Healing Practitioner , and last, but never least, my dear MotherSisterMentor, Dr. Carol Adams, a longtime supporter of TRHT Greater Chicago, and our solidarity work.

Each of these leaders brings their own medicine. Their own gifts. Their own piece of the vision. Together, they remind us that transformation does not happen through isolation. It happens through relationship, trust, shared responsibility, and the courage to keep choosing one another. We need one another now more than ever.

What is radical healing in the workplace?

Perhaps it begins the moment we stop asking people to check their humanity at the door. What if healing wasn't something reserved for after work, after burnout, after the crisis, or after retirement? What if healing became part of how we lead, decide, create, and belong together?

At what point do we engage the WHOLE person? And not just the title or the productivity...the deliverables or the action items. What if we normalized beginning a meeting by engaging the nervous system, the imagination, the wisdom, the body, the spirit?

Who decided that every board meeting had to happen beneath fluorescent lights or within 4 walls?

What if we walked the path at Caldwell Woods instead? Or met up for tea at Haji Healing Salon?

What if we gathered beneath old trees, breathing fresh air while making difficult decisions? As oxygen filled our lungs, perhaps new ideas would fill our minds. As our bodies moved, perhaps stagnant thinking would move too.

Nature has always been one of our greatest teachers. Watch the birds. They don't collide as they fly together. They communicate. They adjust. They lead. They follow. They rest. They trust the current. There is a lesson there for every boardroom.

Did you know that fresh air changes chemistry and removes blockages?Sunlight changes biology. Movement changes cognition. Conversation deepens relationships. And relationship improve organizations.

This isn't about abandoning professionalism. I see the occasional side-eyes lol. This is about remembering that organizations are living ecosystems made up of living people. Hmmm.

Radical healing asks us to lead from wholeness instead of survival. Don't knock it until you try it. Leave the conference room and take one meeting outside. Don't be surprised if you happen to discover that the breakthrough your organization has been searching for wasn't hiding in another spreadsheet. It was waiting beneath the open sky and 5 collective deep breaths with your colleagues.

YES...our community-based organizations and institutions need increased funding to propel healing work forward. But beyond funding, we deserve support systems that help us steward resources well, build sustainable infrastructure, and continue serving our people with dignity.

Too many leaders in healing and racial equity spaces are carrying entire communities while also carrying their own exhaustion, grief, and lived experience.

This is why accountability partners matter. Not auditors or overseers, but compassionate hand-holders...people willing to walk beside grassroots organizations with patience, strategy, clarity, and care.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer one another is a hand to hold while navigating the responsibility of serving our communities and caring for ourselves at the same time.

Organizations like TRHT are helping build ecosystems where healing-centered leaders are not only funded, but guided, nurtured, and treated with love and kindness. Because when accountability is rooted in love, leaders have room to breathe, plan, and heal too. And when that happens, our communities have a greater chance to truly heal from the inside out.
